Dr. Gates is a very nice lady outside of class...however in class she is very picky about everything. She doesn't really stick to the syllabus so it's a good idea to stay ahead on homework. Even though she is very picky and a pretty hard proffesor, I did enjoy her class and felt good about the grade that I got.

She is really picky about everything. You also do not learn from her mostly you learn from the book. I suggest reading the book if you take her class. She is has outdated standards. Just be aware that her class is boring.

I agree with the other postings that she has some very strict, annoying rules. However, I can honestly say that this was one of the best classes I ever took. The key is to read all the chapers BEFORE class, take notes, and answer her homework questions. I did this, and I thought it was a really easy A. She rewards effort (and respect!!!!).

Avoid this woman's class!! She is rude, treats us like we're in elementary school, and does not really teach us the history; every piece of information we learn comes from Perry or the videos. She seems nice enough outside of class, but I REALLY wish I had taken history with another prof.

She is a very nice lady, very complimentive, but she is pretty old. She has VERY picky rules, like keeping your eyes on her at all times and no turning around. She's very set in her ways. Notes arent too organized, but grades VERY easily. As long as you read the chapters and know dates you're good. Theres only 1 really easy essay project too.

Horrible teacher!!! Should've retired many many years ago. Teaches as if you're still in high school & treats like you're a little kid. Notes aren't very clear & she jumps around from subject to subject. Very confusing. I wouldn't take her ever again but she grades easy & only had 1 major essay!

she is very old, probably should have retired a while ago. Really wants you to learn and study. easy grader, easy tests and only one project. Class is nearly unbearable to sit through but the easy grade is worth it. Incredibly sweet and had compliments for everyone.
