Heard horror stories of the way he used to be before I had gone to the school, but I had no such quarrels with him. Actually enjoyed the classes I had with him, they were very laid-back and informal, and he was very helpful as my academic adviser.

Roy Blackwood was and is the only Mass Comm. instructor at BSU worth a darn. You either did the work, did it right, did it on time, or you failed. That isn't any different than in real life. I've been a newspaper reporter, editor, and columnist since 1989. I'm a 10-time Wisconsin Newspaper Association Award Winner. I owe my career to Roy Blackwood.

If you entered the communication program with any amount of trepidation, take a class from Roy, and he will free you to find a different major. If, on the other hand, you want a communications degree, your best bet is to transfer rather than listen to this irrelevant relic.

I am a teacher because of Blackwood's tough, rational, pragmatic advice. I have been teaching now for over 20 years and recognize the whine of immature, spoiled students. If you think Blackwood is tough, I expect you will find "the real world" a bit of a shock. Thanks Roy!

Okay, Roy is tough as nails. I have had many mass comm. classes, at more then one college, and he doesn't have anything new or helpful to add. He never talks about his experience, he isn't very encouraging and isn't friendly. I managed to get on his good side but for those who aren't, look out!

All I have to say is GOOD LUCK on the final!!!! Roy is a guy, who wants you to take part in all aspects of discussions. Then on the final you answer and if your answer doesnt agree with his point of view it is WRONG, so if you think the sky is blue and he thinks its purple than it is purple!HAVE FU

Roy is the epitome of a person who has watched his subject matter pass him by. He brags that he doesn't read the college newspaper, he has little to no real-world experience in media, and yet somehow BSU lets him teach. I would rather take a class taugh

Roy is the best teacher I have ever encountered. It took me a long time to realize that college is expensive, and you better get your money's worth. Dr. Blackwood teaches you so much, and he really does care, and that is what is most important.

he is the height of frustration..very tough teacher who expects nothing but the best. We are here to learn and he expects us to be a perfectionist on the first day. He's not very helpful and gives very brief answers to your questions. So,dont even bother
