tends to talk about other subjects a lot, but links them back into the material present to allow for it to be understood easier. gave students many opportunities to pass, just had to do the work.

He gives his students every chance to pass. He does get off task but do not be discouraged you will learn. If you are looking for a class that you will come out of knowing more than you went into he is the best. If you want an easy A than this is not the teacher for you.

I took Dr hyle after failing my first attempt at A&P 1( which only 6 people passed in my class :( ) and I love him. He does get a bad rap for telling alot of stories but if you actually listen to his story it has to do with what he is talking about. hes trying to get you to relate the concept to an experience.

I had the pleasure of attending Dr. Hyle's class for Bio 141 and Bio 142. Dr. Hyle is very fair and gives students every opportunity succeed. Dr Hyle encourages his students to ask for help and he responds to emails in a timely manner. I really enjoyed his ramblings and feel that Dr. Hyle has a lot of knowledge and insight to offer his students.

This is a self teach class. The professor talks about random things that doesn't have to do with class. He doesn't teach. Wouldn't recommended.

I am taking Dr. Hyle by default because Abrahams only teaches at the Williamsburg campus now. Hyle definitely likes the old fashioned teaching style. He wants you to listen to him lecture and his schedule is not structured. Yes, he tells stories and gets off track ALL THE TIME, and yes it drives me insane. I would recommend Abrahams or Meritt.

you will teach yourself.. he needs to spend more time teaching content and LESS time telling senseless, mundane stories.

Just finished Part I A&P with Hyle and I will have to say it was the hardest class I have ever taken. I managed to get an A only b/c I studied for hours and hours. The tests are crazy hard and most of the quizzes are pretty tough. Pay attention to everything he says, except the stories, and make an effort and you will do well.

To pass his class you have to ignore the stories and write down everyword he says in lecture. It is all on the quizzes and test. Lab was no better, you did everything on your own and didn't learn much. He will not break words into simplier terms so you have to study extra hard for this class. I got a B, but it took alot out of me.

Don't take Hyle if you plan on putting the information to use later on. He wasted our time and talked off subject entirely too much. Take Zahn or Abrahams. Otherwise, your just wasting time and money.

He is very hard to follow and tells way too many stories. It was really frustrating because always way through the semester, we had only gotten through chapter 1. I think he lectured on the same handout for 4 class periods and half of it wasn't even on his test. I will be retaking this class with another professor next semester and will definitely

I didn't like this professor at all. I had him for lab and it was all on your own, was not helpful with dissections, basically talked for the first hour, then sent you on your way with no instruction. When I stayed after to ask a few questions it was a waste of time. Quizzes are different from what all the others use, we all hated them.

In my opinion, Dr. Hyle is a n amazing professor. He has a non-traditional way of teaching that most students cannot appreciate. If you want a professor that will motivate you to learn and not spoon feed you, take his class. Take lots of notes, read before you come to class, and pay attention. I guarantee you'll pass with flying colors.

Took him for lab. Awful! Talks about how successful his son is at disecting fish eggs. Changes where diagrams are pointing during quizes. Never shuts up when you are trying to concentrate. Aided me when I stayed after class, but not worth the headache. Retaking with Abrahams who is awesome. Take him instead, then you won't have to retake it like me

Sweet as a cupcake, but boy is he hard to follow. he tells some crazy stories, but none really deal with anatomy. He gives quizzes every class and some are out of the blue. His tests are crazy, compared to such a weird class they are extremely hard, the wording is tricky.I would not choose to take him again, nice but only the A&P of his family/life.

Took him for Ecology. Great guy, but gives freaky hard tests. Yea he tells alot of stories, and you think you aren't learning much in his class, when you suddenly find yourself explaining to strangers the reason the Bay has too many jellyfish. Almost made me change my major to science!

Great teacher! Intersting and fun...uses real world experiences to drive home ideas, but has an old school flair that bothers most modern students. Come to class religiously, pay attention, and review lecture notes at home and you will make an A!

Awful teacher. Spends the class time rambling about himself, then hands out ridiculously hard tests with nothing on them that was discussed in class. Class is pretty much an independent-study but you have to show up to the lecture because he gives quizzes every time. I recommend taking your book with you so you can learn by yourself
