I loved taking Chinese with Wang laoshi. I took 2 semesters and I'd recommend his class to anyone who actually wants to learn Chinese and isn't expecting to breeze through without thinking.

Wang Laoshi is very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the course. Sometimes there are moments of misunderstanding, but it's also a fully integrated Chinese course, so miscommunications will happen. He is also very kind.

He was certainly knowledgeable about the topic... but he's geared toward a very specific type of learner. If you need a very organized teacher who clearly outlines expectations, he will confuse the hell out of you. However, he's a nice guy and owns up to his mistakes. He's also usually pretty fun.

Very amusing, fast-paced class. The language itself is not easy, but the A is. However, the beginning level meets every day and there's a lot of homework. Be on your toes in class and do well on the homework, and you shouldn't have any problems learning Chinese.

Wow...he said in my class (Chinese Cinema) today "Film is not the venue to address social problems", which is entirely what this course is about essentially. I think he was confused, but that's no excuse. He makes my brain want to explode.
