The problem with Bernard is that he mostly just reads his notes off powerpoint (which he puts online), and that makes it difficult to want to pay attention or even go to class. Textbook use is unnecessary but would help. Tests are easy...he posts a lot of the questions online with the answers

Very very dry and boring class. Intelligent but a little too intelligent to be teaching a broad overview class, expects you to know what he knows. He reads everything off of the slides which makes it really hard to even pay attention in class. The tests are kind of easy as long as you study the ? bank

class is extremely easy. question banks are available online and atleast 50 percent of the questions come from them. if you memorize the qustion bank, you should get an A. class itself is boring. just reads his powerpoints outloud for you which are posted online anyway. overall: boring but worth the grade!!

Extremely intelligent professor with an unbelievable wealth of knowledge. Good if you like the material, somewhat dry if you have only a passing interest. Tests are easy if you prepare for them. I would take another class with him if given the opportunity.

Very intelligent, but also very (too)traditional. Lectures are dry and don't require any involvement on the part of the student, just notetaking, if that. He didn't scare me away from the major, but didn't draw me in, either. I bet he's much more dynamic in a smaller lecture setting.

This class is fairly easy because he puts basically all the answers to the tests on the website so unless you don't want a good grade its pretty hard to do badly. The lectures are interesting some of the time but not usually but he posts those also so if you dont want to go you don't have to.

I enjoyed the class because of the subject matter. Bernard has a lot of experience in his field and made the class interesting with his stories. He DID curve the test grades. The test are fairly easy though. If you are not interested in the subject, there are probably better classes for you.

I was considering an anthropology minor but once I took Bernard's class I changed my mind. He was honestly one of the most boring teachers I've ever had; impossible to follow and a complete waste of my time. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO! (even if it is easy...)

The actually class is pretty boring. I usually did work for other classes. The tests are really easy and the final is so simple. All his powerpoints are posted online as well as previous test questions with answers.

Bernard is a bit boring no doubt, and considering it's an introductory class, it may seem intimidating at first. But His first two tests are pretty easy but if you messed up a little, you can make up for it on the final b/c it's soooooo easy!!!!

A pompous professor, talking more than he teaches. All grades are determined by 3 tests. Extremely boring and horrible for an Intro class.

An intimidating professor for an intro course. He curved my tests by bumping highest test grade to 100,and everyone else's receiving equal bonus. The secret is doing all his practice questions in study groups; many are on the tests.

He taught entirely by an overhead-laptop combo in a large auditorium; this meant he didn't even pass out the syllabus. His tests required the lectures more so than the text, making the text useless. He talked more than taught.

Bernard is a very intense professor, no doubt about it. His work, methods, and passion are relentless and admirable. Just b/c the course might not be easy does not make him a poor professor. Screw extra credit. Challenge yourself and grow as a scholar

Very boring... doesn't explain things well. No curves, no extra credit, and hard to study for tests. If you take this class for your Major/Minor learn to teach yourself. Books, online notes lecture are very different!
