Comment:

His lectures are all over the place and he does not grade assignments until the end of the semester. He has a smart mouth and will belittle you and when you ask simple questions. Do not take him! He is unorganized and will stress you out during the semester. I had to teach myself throughout the semester.

Comment:

Despite his reviews on RMP, Dr. McGuff is a great professor. He knows what he's talking about, and makes his lectures interesting. No pop quizzes, only two tests, a final, three discussion board posts, and a research paper. If you show up to class and do your work - you'll get an A. Grades last minute, but again, if you do the work you're solid.

He's a great prof if you're already very interested in psych. Somewhat disorganized with his lectures & and he explains things in terms of his own life experiences. Go to class, listen to him, & take notes you'll do just fine. If you have your phone out or it rings at any point in class he kicks you out. Lose points if your late.

Rambles alot. Don't take him. Grades harshly over the most trivial of things. If I wasn't for my love of psychology, I probably would've failed.

Our professor quit before the semester ended and this guy was assigned to take over the class. I would never take this professor for a class, ever. His lectures are him rambling off the top of his head, and the final exam he wrote for the class was 3x harder than our old professor's tests were. Half the stuff on it he never told us to study either.

a teacher is supposed to help students learn and he did nothing the lectures were not helpful and more like him talking about random things on his mind if u want to write some annoying essays and learn nothing take him the tests where very subjective too this is suppose to be an intro class and it turned out to be really hard

As you long as you study the notes you take in class and read the bolded terms in the book you should do fine on the tests there are 4 short essays which are kinda hard to do because you need to read the book for them and the topics are weird also bc I am not the greatest writer and his requirements are cumbersome overall I wouldn't take him

Mr. McGuff is a nice guy but he's all over the place, he has lecture slides but they are very confusing. Dont bother asking for a study guide, he'll laugh in your face. Gets very off topic almost every class, only reason i went to class was to get credit. He's very passionate and smart but also a little arrogant.

I really had to work for it in this class. This class covers a ton of material, much of which the student learns independently. Dr. M is a great lecturer and his standards are very high. This class is not for lazy people or crybabies. You have been warned!!

I passed but by only by a little. He's tough, can be understanding but if you aren't a good note taker or studier don't take him bc its a lot of lecture/note taking and his test are long and he does not give study guides.

Just don't do it. The man doesn't believe in study guides and that alone will make you pull your hair out trying too figure out what to study. I'm trying to study for the final right now and I just want to drop out. Just save yourself the time and money if you can't live with a C

Don't take McGuff if you aren't a very good note taker and a very good student. I made a B, but most taking this need an A, as I did. His midterm is 4 in class essays which is daunting but he does help by giving you a bank of questions to prepare for. Expects a lot of book reading and preparing before class which can be tough with 5 other classes.

Great professor with even better lectures, but if you don't have the book, there is no way you will pass his class. His lectures are full of information but a lot of the tests are based off what you read in the book. Quick Tip: When studying for his tests, your best tool is his notes on launchpad, they will have everything you need to know.

When I chose this class, it was about scheduling. I read the comments on here and was pretty worried. You have to read every page of the book and do the Launchpad work and never miss class. Don't break the rules and it is a good class.

Worst class and professor I ever had. Very sarcastic. I am a graduate of tcc I wouldnt recommend anybody to his class. I withdrew and took another professor.

Only reason why this class is "difficult" is because it is a real college class. I enjoyed the lectures and the materials weren't too difficult. He expects students to attend lecture and doesn't put his ppt online for that reason. He gives good EC at the end and the midterm is 4 essays. Expects you to put in some effort to get an A, but not a lot.

He expects a lot from his students. He expected us to read the chapter and take the online quiz before he taught the information. I wouldn't say that the class was hard, but it required a lot of work to do well and is by no means an easy A. The midterm has four essay questions, but he tells you what the questions are so you can prepare.

I would NOT recommend to take, he is petty and expects too much but not willing to reciprocate nor help. Too specific with details but is not clear with explain everything he expects out of you. I wouldn't take again or would allow anybody I know to take him.
