Comment:
I had him for both ceramics and drawing and hated both classes. Unless you have 16+ hours set aside for ceramics don't take it. Half of my projects were thrown away along with other students ("I was cleaning off shelves and got rid of stuff that needed work"). Drawing with him was worthless as well. Not helpful!

He does seem kinda scarey at first, but he really does grow on you. He's a very funny guy, and knows his stuff. He is very helpful and good at explaining things to help you out.

Awesome guy. Sometimes gives a bad first impression but he definitely grows on you. He is really funny and doesn't treat you like a high school student like some teacher do. Warning: If you take ceramics be prepared to spend lots of time to work on it

Mr. Schmaljohn knows what he is talking about. I respect that in a professor. If you ask questions he will help. I consider him to be one of the best teachers I have encountered at Northwest.

Good guy, expects students to be able to think for themselves, which really isnt to much if you ask me. Start out the class all mean but you soon find out he is just weeding out the people that dont belong there. But by the end class he is cool

He expects you to know how to draw and his way of helping is telling you to read the book. In other words, he doesn't help a struggling student.
