I tested into a really high level of French as a freshman, but Caldwell made the transition easy. She can be a tough grader and the class has a lot of writing but it definitely helped to improve my French skills. I would recommend buying the textbook; It was an incredible resource but I had ented it so I was unable to keep it.

I really wanted to learn Italian and after taking this class with her, I feel fairly confident about my Italian speaking ability. Though somewhat challenging, she does not give you more than you can handle at your level of language.

I had her for a J-term class, Dante's Divine Comedy. Her own interest in the topic fueled class discussion and led to interesting and deep discussion of Dante. Easily one of my favorite profs. here at Luther!

Prof. Caldwell is the best French teach I have ever had. I also tested into 300 level French as a freshman and she made the transition so much easier. Her class is hard, though. I had to work my tail off for a B+ but you will feel so accomplished by the end. She has a kind heart and is always willing to help out.

Awesome professor! I'm a freshman and started out in a very high class level in French and took 344 last semester and 346 this semester. Anytime I have advice about classes to take for French I go to her over any other professor, including my advisor. She makes you work hard but gives you what you need to succeed in her classes, awesome professor!!
