OKAY WOW! SHES SO AWESOME...i had her last year for satire and i've told all my friends to take this course. She was fun, interesting, and clear in her lectures! If you have her as a TA..well you just got lucky:)

A very good professor - great speaker and knowledgeable about her subject. However, the way participation marks are given in her tutorials is stupid - you don't actually earn marks for participating in discussions. I recommend taking the class but not having her as your tutorial leader.

Great prof. Very organized, fun, knowledgeable and honestly one of the best profs I've had at York. The only problem I had is that no notes were posted anywhere. It would really help since the lectures were 100% important. But as a prof, she was really wonderful. Would definitely take another course with her but you gotta be a great notetaker.

Well, what can i say about Ruth Knechtel except that she is by far the greatest prof i have had at YORK. She is luckily also my TA and a great one at that!!! Very helpful and understanding person and she will not keep you yawning in her lectures and tutorials! Great person and amazing course.

As a female student majoring in English, it is so awesome to see a young, clever, confident, witty, brilliant woman teaching such an unforgiving area of literature. I'm compelled by everything she has to say, and that's not because she's so incredibly attractive. This is the best English course I have taken at York, thus far.

Yes, she is brilliant and informative (grammar handouts are helpful), even entertaining.The only problem is that she knows it, and, I think, runs the risk of getting a swelled head.T-shirt with blazer give the correct impression that she is approachable but authoritative. Cool hair. Good soul.
