Absolutely awful. Good luck if you're not a writer of -what was the phrase she used- "literature so entrenched in the South you can here the fat drippin' off the ladle straight onto the page." Other things that led me to despise this class: she hates Edgar Allen Poe, Kate Chopin, plot, and twist endings ("It's like the writer's cheatin' ya.")

Told us after the first paper that it was the worst batch she received in 12 years. Very discouraging and unhelpful comments on work, that often don't make sense. Only likes southern lit so if you write anything else, she's already prejudiced against you. I think she is better as a children's lit prof, but not as a creative writing prof.

Professor Moose was great! I really enjoyed her Writing Children's Lit class. She's sweet like your favorite aunt or grandmother. The class is fun, not too demanding. Her comments are always a boost to the ego. Her philosophy in terms of critiques is "honest but gentle." Definitely take her if you're interested in writing.

Ruth is wonderful. A joy to work with and learn from. Plus she has the best children's lit name ever!
