dont take her, just dont..very vague about assignments(most all writing),which she is very tough on grading. Extremely long winded and boring-she'll tell every detail of a story(where she parked,which door she used-i swear!) there are so many incredible profs at this school and in the geog dept, why take her?

Her lectures are dry, so try to take her later in the day if you don't like mornings! Exams are moderate on the easy-hard scale. The content is much more interesting if you're a Spanish major :P

She knows her stuff but the material can be boring. Which isn't totally her fault. Her tests aren't bad if you follow the study guides. Overall see is pretty cool! Not recommended for the slacker type.

easy class if you can sit through it. really nice lad but just so boring, try to take her mwf so class is only one hour long...hour and a half is way too much to handle. no attendance policy is key for sanity. gives study guides which makes tests easy

Say "No Ma'am" if you happen to irritate her. It is not that hard and she will let you know how she feel BELIEEEEEVE ME oh and she was very difficult to say the least. She looks nice, but don't tell anyone...she used to be a jackal in a previous life. HARD!

By far the most boring prof. I've ever had. She is very intelligent but does not get the point across in a coherent manner. She rambles on and attempts to make jokes that no one understands or pays attention to. She knows a ton about PA but doesn't know how to teach it.

Geography of PA class itself is very boring, unless your interested in it. Dr. Shirey isnt too bad. She can be boring, but she does know her stuff and the work isnt hard at all. Most of the notes she gives in a handout. The tests follow the study guides. Shes very interested in what she teaches.

Dr. Shirey is one of the most intelligent, witty, and personable Prof's at IUP. Take her class, show up, pay attention and learn anything you want about PA. The students who commented about her having a monotone voice are wrong!

She is the WORST teacher I have EVER had. Her class was horrible. She doesn't know what she's talking about, she rambles, and she just flat out can't teach. I am a straight A student and she tried to fail everyone in the class, even if they had A's.
