I gave up lecture after 3 weeks and just attended them every so often, and when in class, surfed the web, and still got an A (no prior knowledge of C++ even). Bad to go to for questions but the book/online slides/labs got me through it easily. His exams are hard if you don't study (me) but I don't feel that you need to attend class ever to do well.

Awful. He doesnt make the projects, he doesnt know the projects and he doesnt care about the students. All questions or issues are directed to the TA, and the TA has limited abilities to do anything for you. He is part time and it shows. Take it with Wortman or somebody else.

Not a good teacher. I expect a little seriousness when I am trying to learn, and I just gave up going to lectures because I couldn't take his jokes, and ended up getting a C. If you have a choice, anyone else is better. I looked at Prof. Chang's slides and those alone were SO much more informative compared to Raouf or his slides.

Raof trys to screw you at every turn. Take the class with Prof Cheng, he rewrote the entire cirriculum this semester. Raof trys to make impossible exams and gives no guidance for the projects; you are completly on your own. Luckily for me, a great TA Dom Miner, rewrote and made the exams relatively easy and gave direction and help with the projects

Sa'ad's class rocks. Always enjoyable and doesnt drag on like other classes. He knows the material very, very well, and takes the time to make sure that everyone(not just those he knows the names of like other claim) understands it completely. Would recommend, definitely knows what he is doing.

Professor Raouf is one of the best profs at UMBC. He not only cares about the lecture material but also cares about students as well. (If you make yourself known and participate in class.) Projects are created/assigned by Wortman but Raouf has his own tests. Prepare yourself for a very difficult midterm but the final has lots of extra credit.

I took 202 with Raouf because of all the reviews, and I was misled. If you want a good grade, then sit in the front row and laugh at his bad jokes. I wrote him 4 emails over the summer about my 79% in the course; he didn't respond to one, I had to take it over with Wortman. She is a much nicer professor and she cares about all her students.

He's a good TEACHER, but he really lacks as a PROFESSOR. Rarely did he know anything about the projects, or what was going on in the course outside of lecture. His ridiculous midterm also weeds out the idiots that think they can major in comp sci cause they burned a CD once, but if you stick it out till the end, it's worth it.

a lot of people are saying that he is a great teacher and thats why i took the class with him....hes only helpful to the people who he knows by name, the people who sit in the front... if you dont sit in the front and participate in class... hes not exactly the nicest guy... he repeats himself entire way too much... take it with Wortman

Great teacher. Funny and knows the material very, very well. Tests are indeed ridiculously difficult - tries to be very tricky with the questions. Very strict about classroom discipline. One of my favorite teachers here. Communication is difficult - tends to be slow to answer emails, etc.

Found him funny and teaches pretty well. However, don't try to get with him after class. Almost always cancels office hours, and trying to work things out with him, found communication difficult and tiresome.

Probably the best TEACHER I have had here. Makes you understand, goes at a very decent pace. Emphasizes what is important. Good humor too. I recommend taking him.
