Comment:

Dr. Hessinger's calculus class was the highlight of my semester. She is a fabulous teacher! She is totally committed to her students learning calculus. She is always cheerful. She is very fair. Calculus is a difficult class either way, so I would absolutely recommend taking it with her.

Comment:

The textbook is free online and homework wasn't turned in for a grade but helped to prepare for the tests. She tries to make sure everyone understands a topic before moving to the next. The way she teaches is very helpfully especially if you aren't good at math.

For this course she was VERY picky about terminology, it almost felt like more of a vocab class in the beginning... she's a professor who will NOT dumb anything down to make it easier to understand and that may or may not help some. All homework was optional but tests were HARD... Be prepared to study

Calculus is a difficult course but Hessinger is a very good professor, she came in several times on Sunday's to help students study for quizzes and exams. She is a stickler for proper notation so make sure you stay on top of that.

Wonderful Professor. Hessinger is truly a joy, and the smarted women I've ever met. The class is difficult, but that is what is so enjoyable. You know you're actually gaining something and working for the grade you want.

First of all CALCULUS is a hard course. She is an ok professor. She is really upbeat, nice, and sweet. She kinda explains the material on her level and not on your level. If you are bad at math go to the tutoring center. She sometimes give homework, but she does not take it up. She gives you a pdf. of the text book, it's free.

She makes homework optional, I didn't do any homework and hardly studied and barely made a B. I am fairly good in math so for those who struggle ask questions and do the homework and you will be fine! She is super nice but is a little all over the place, if you have trouble focusing and need more organization pick someone else, but its preference.

Diligent, sincere, fair. Do all the work, ask questions during office hours and go to every class and you will do well. It is not easy but if you work hard you can do well. She is incredibly helpful and cares if you understand. Thoughtful, thorough and tough. Best teacher I have ever had. If you want to know this stuff take her!

Dr. Hessinger is awesome. She is so sweet and has a wonderful personality. She gave outlines on exam material. Very little homework (mainly assigned hw that was just for mastery of concepts). I would love to take another class with her, she is simply the best. Take her over any other professor, you will be happy you did!!!

I covered Calc in IB & it was easy...but Hessinger...KILLED my HOPE GPA.She will start the class normal pace and then RUSH through important ending stuff because of short time.WAY too much material to cover for only a 1hr class!All tests are x2 harder than the hw, which you MUST do to understand stuff!YOU NEED THE BOOK!She mainly helps after class.

I've always hated math with a passion, but this class changed that. Dr. Hessinger is brilliant and incredibly patient with her class. This one had about 60 people in it, (she still managed to learn everyone's name) so don't expect 1-on-1 time outside of her office. She does make plenty of tutoring/homework help available outside of class though.

Dr. Hessinger is one of the best math teachers I've ever had, and created and friendly, supportive, and non-threatening environment in the classroom. She tends to be five minutes late every day, but presents the material clearly and answers questions thoroughly. I enjoyed her class and would take another class from her without hesitation.

She's amazing! She has a lot going on and teaches many classes but she is fair. Really appreciate the time and effort she puts forth. Usually, if theres a bad comment about her, its from students that do not study and want an excuse for why they are doing poorly in the course. But she's really as great as they come! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

She is a very helpful teacher, she cares about us, and she does know the material, but she has annoying and stressful quirks. She uses teaching to boost her self esteem by racing us and congratulating herself when she wins, constantly asking people by name if they understand, and threatening to lock us all in the classroom when we don't understand.

So thankful I took her for Calc II! The course itself isn't an easy ride, but Dr. Hessinger made it as painless as possible. She explains in great detail and makes sure the class isn't lost. Her office hours are convenient and flexible and she has a vibrant personality. Also gives make ups for tests, but you have to work for it.

Dr. H is a great teacher, but she expects a lot out of the students. She expects you to be in class and she will even come in on weekends to do a review before test. A lot of work, but you WILL know the stuff before you leave her class. If you want to learn and want to be set for calc 2, take her.
