Dr. Attar is smart and really enjoys chemistry but if you're not a Chemistry or Biology major do not take Organic Chemistry with him! His lectures are so dense and he covers the material way too fast. There are no power points formulas are all written on the board. Make sure you dedicate A LOT of time to study and read!!

Smart guy and explains well however, lectures are rather fast which make the mechanisms confusing. If you take his class, DO NOT overload yourself with excessive units. You will need a lot of time for studying.

Just knowing that this professor's average grade to pass is a 55% is a warning! He gives 2 exams: midterm&final along with quizzes but offers no other way to increase your grade. He speeds through lectures and doesn't take the time to make sure students understand it. If you choose to take it with him make sure you don't have a heavy course load.

For those of you Honors Students who have no idea what to expect when taking this class, seriously, don't worry. Dr. Attar invites awesome lecturers from the campus and the community to speak at a weekly colloquium. Turn in one short paper and miss class up to 2 classes to earn an A. Easy! Plus Dr. Attar is always very helpful when you need advice.

Run far, far away from this guy. He comes off as genuinely nice but you will soon see he's sadistic. He teaches the class like we are all budding ivy league chemists. Nobody answers his questions in class because he has quite a hard time not making you look like a fool. The homework and "study guides" are useless. Smart man, bad prof.

Since I took Dr. Attar for Honors Colloquium, I can't honestly attest to his ability as a Chemistry professor, but I can say that I think he is one of the most genuine professors you will find. When he tells you he wants to help students, you believe him. He's a very busy guy, but because of his dedication, he's extremely efficient.

I would not recommend him, he is really tough and expects that we are all chemists and enjoy chemistry. I regret taking this class. His tests are tough and homework is pointless online homework that he doesn't like.

Dr. Attar is one of the best professors at Fresno State. To some teachers, students are just numbers, but Dr. Attar cares about each and every one of his students. He's very knowledgable and extremely personable. You will simply not find a more dedicated professor. Highly recommend.

Great lectures, however exams are extremely hard. He does give the chance for partial credit on free response problems. If you don't study, you won't pass. Use the office hours, learning center, and form study groups. Multi-step synthesis is on every exam. Know your reagents.

I admit he is a great professor. Nothing wrong at all with the way he teaches and his explanations. He is extremely passionate. Got 100% on all his quizzes but the hardest were the midterms and final. I would definitely recommend him but not if you aren't going to study hard for these exams. There is a great curve for the difficulty of his class.

6 quizzes, 2 midterms, and a final. Homework is optional but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND doing it. He's a great lecturer and helps you develop critical thinking skills. Try to read ahead. This will help absorb the material presented in class better. Overall if you read the book, do the homework (all of it), and attend lecture you'll be in good shape.

Dr. Attar is a fantastic professor. As the director of the Smittcamp Family Honors College and a regular professor at Fresno State, Dr. Attar is a busy guy, but is a fantastic multitasker and a great mentor. I would recommend Dr. Attar to any perspective student on campus because he's always there to help and is also a really nice guy.

Attar is a good guy but he fly's over a ton of material. Really hard class, you must study and do study guide homework on your own or you will fail. Grade is 100% exams no homework. He will help if you ask for it so ask for it if you don't understand something. If your not great at chem i would take someone else. Chen is good for o chem.

Amazing teacher! Really clear of what he expects from you. Ochem is a hard class but if you take out the time and actually do the work and get help when needed you should be fine! He's amazing at explaining and helping during office hours best teacher there is at fresno state!!

One of the best teachers on campus. Yes his class is hard but o.chem is not a class where you can sit your butt down and expected the answers to be handed to you. He makes you work (so that means reading, doing HW problems, and participating). He definitely knows his material and is willing to spend time to go over it with you in his office.

One of the best professor I have had so far. He was very helpful during office hours. He know this subject very well and is very clear in his lectures. The only reason I did not get an A was that I did not work hard enough. If you want to understand Ochem take Dr. Attar.

He knows what he teaches. His tests are tough. Tests consist of about 10 multiple choice questions and a handful of write-in mechanism and synthesis. He will not curve. 88% constitutes an A. If you are sincerely interested in the subject you will learn a great deal from him. However, if risking a B is not an option I would consider another.

Had him for lab. He grades VERY hard, but he really knew what he was talking about. He is definitely arrogant and expects a lot from students--not always a bad thing. Other lab professors are much nicer and less intimidating.

Hard class. You really need to understand concepts and not memorize problems or you will be in trouble on exams. Homework is not graded but you will not pass if you don't do the homework. Hardest ochem class on campus. if you can get thru this you can get thru any class
