Sachdev is a nice guy who is really passionate about the subjects he teaches. However, I found that in this class, I basically wrote the same paper four times with few differences. His grading isn't very clear and sometimes he has a little bit of sass, but overall he's a nice guy. Be prepared to read a lot and discuss a lot as well.

Salil is a great guy. The class is very laidback and you learn a lot. He likes to make the same jokes over and over again, but it works for him. Tests and projects aren't too difficult and he doesn't assign much homework.

Professor Sachdev was very nice and easily accessible if you didn't understand something. His lectures were somewhat interesting and his quizzes and tests weren't too hard. You have like 3 presentations and no final and tends to be an easy grader for those. I recommend Professor Sachdev.

Salil is a really nice guy and a good professor. His class is easily passable as long as you show up and do the homework. I knew absolutely nothing about music AT ALL but his class made it interesting and easy to learn. Would recommend and take again.

Love him, he's so nice and a really funny guy, he's super talented music wise and is clearly very passionate about world music. People may think that he puts you on the spot sometimes but he just wants you to think as deeply as you can about the material because he wants you to see how awesome it is-which it is! very smart and cool, would recommend

So here's the thing. Sachdev is a nice guy. He really is. However, I had trouble getting to class a few times and basically begged him for help, expressed willingness to do whatever it took to get a passing grade and he verbatim said "Do your best and you'll be fine." Alright, so i studied, did my best, all that stuff... And I failed. Unhelpful.

Took his world music class & loved it. Tests were fine, just had to study (we're in college, get over it). I was in Khakatay for 3 years and it was the best ensemble I've ever been a part of. Salil is a great teacher, a great guy and a passionate musician. He loses cool points for shaving off the mustache, but remains awesome none the less.

Awesome, funny guy with a great sense of world music. A few reading assignments, and he picks out random questions things for the book and puts you on the spot to answer them. Written tests are pretty difficult, but the listening tests are very simple if you study. Also, he gives you a fun project. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Definitely recommended.

Good teacher!!! Funny guy and has a high interest in world music. 2 written tests and 2 listening tests and gives study guides. Small project. His knowledge about world music is amazing especially since he is in charge of the music department and is very helpfull. I reccomend him!!!!
