If you like Geography and Biogeography you should like this class. Study your notes and read the textbook. The class isn't stressful. There is very little, if any homework. The textbook is not heavily emphasized on tests, but it gives good examples so you can explain your short answers on exams. Email her because she is quick to respond.

This class was a new class that had no structure. It was evident that there was no clue on how to present the material. The labs were aweful they seemed to focus at entering the professor's data and doing her research. The exam questions were ridiculous one of them actually was " T/F was the funnel made by Dr. Horn's husband better than a cut straw

-Very nice woman, not my kind of teacher. Very intelligent about the class and is a great researcher. In my opinion she should stick to research rather than teaching. she's very passionate about what she does

I had never taken a geography class before Dr. Horn's 435 class, and now it's my minor! Her passion for the material is evident in her lectures. You should definitely show up every day and take notes if you plan on an A in her class. It's not hard, you just have to be receptive.

Hard professor but it's not bad if you are really into geography. I enjoyed the class. Horn can be harsh and a little weird but she's overall a good prof. and willing to help you further your studies.

Very tough teacher, but great personality. Great sense of humor, very qualified, and interesting. The lecture slides aren't that helpful, but you will do better if you go to class anyway. READ THE BOOK BEFORE THE TESTS.

This class was really interesting and Sally loves her job and the content. This class is, however, not the easiest. You really have to know the material for the tests (be prepared to apply theories not just know how to answer a multiple choice question). Most could probably could expect a "B" in the class, but you'll enjoy it.

A very fair-minded and helpful professor. She is very approachable, and passionate about the subjects she teaches. She is one of the best professors any serious student will have in college, and maybe a pretty good one for half-way serious students as well.

I took several courses from Dr. Horn in the early 90's. I thought she was an excellent professor and I still remember much of her course material. The horrible grammatical mistakes of the previous "raters" speaks more about them than Dr. Horn.

Comment:

Energetic about course material, however does not offer any knowledge during lecture. In order to pass the test, you only need to read the book. Lecture material is confusing and doesn't really flow. The textbook choice was lousy. Avoid class at all cost!
