Comment:

Had a lot of trouble with this class. Kelly was nice, but a little intimidating. Clearly knowledgeable, passionate about the subject matter. Class based on 4 papers, attendance, participation. Tougher grader than expected. Had a lot of trouble getting a B with a 3.9 GPA going in. Good lecturer but no patience for bad students. Wouldn't take again.

This was more of a literature class than a history class. She assigns readings every week and you discuss them in class the next day, but there is very little historical background given to the material. Bottom line: don't bother with this course if you're looking for more insight into a historical topic; you can do it better on your own.

This class is okay. You take a lot of different authors to make determinations about the time period. Class is like a seminar, the week alternates between a lecture day and a discussion day. The class isn't too hard and Professor Kelly keeps it interesting. Grade based on weekly discussion papers, participation, midterm, and a final. Not too hard.

Prof Kelly was great, amazing lectures and fairly easy work load. Medieval kings and queens was one of my favorite classes ever, would definitely take another course with this woman

Comment:

Professor Kelly is great. She is a medievalist so she does tend to focus on that time period, but her lectures were in depth and very easy to understand. There's only one midterm & no final, just two short papers and one long final paper. I learned so much in her class. Best professor I've had at Rutgers so far.

she seems to be really nitpicky at first, so i was really nervous for her midterm, but i ended up getting a 97. she grades very easily. show up to class, take notes, and do a few of the readings for each recitation, say something in recitation, and you are golden.

professor kelly is a very effective and interesting teacher and a generous grader if you understand her lectures but the class is a lot of work and attendance is mandatory. i worked for an A but you will have a hard time passing if you dont go to class. would definitely recommend to a serious student.

Pofessoe Kelly was my favorite professor in my freshman year. she was very passionate about the subject and extremely knowledgeable as well. the midterm wasnt hard but you do have to study and she gives these 2 page papers that are also not hard to do well on. if you can be in her section becasue shell like you more.

I loved Prof Kelly, Amazing professor, MUST TAKE. very clear and organized lectures which were very entertaining. grade consisits of a midterm, 2 2pg papers, and a final 8 pg one but as long as you read the asssigned SHORT readings and go to lecture you will be fine, I cant wait to take this professor again..

I got an A in the class but I wouldn't say it was a piece of cake. Average difficulty. Midterm (25%) asked to regurgitate too much information in too short a period of time. Essays (55% total) were graded fairly and easily. Participation in discussion (20%) an easy grade booster. Fair amount of reading. No txtbk. Learned a lot! Would recommend!

Really enthusiastic about what she teaches, she seems like a nice person, and can be funny during lectures. She DOES talk a bit fast, but it's not really an issue because the TA's are really helpful. Even though its not my area of interest, its an all in all good class, great for any history major (and non-majors)to take

This was the worst prof.I've had at Rutgers so far.She expects you to kiss her ass and talks down to you if you are not one of her favorites. Didn't learn anything from her lectures because she talks too fast and expects you to understand the material before her lectures. Very unfair grader and downright nasty person.

An amazing professor. Probably the best one I have had at Rutgers. She is really interesting and knows what she is talking about. The class was never boring. Interesting readings were assigned, and grading was very fair. She is also really great and helpful if you visit her in her office hours.

Boo! Way too much work for intro course. Don't take unless you like to write papers and read a ton of boring historical texts. Tests were hard,fill-in answers, had to remember dates,people,their quotes & significance, and still had write an essay after. Pretty ridiculous and not easy.
