She's not good at remembering when she said things were due. She loses students essays and said it herself that it is rare for any student to get an A on anything in her class. Do not take her class unless stressed out and earn a C or lower after attending every class even when going to the writing center and to her for feedback.

Mrs. Barnhouse was an excellent online instructor. I didn't feel like the course load was too much, even with two other classes. I earned my "A" in that class because I worked for it. How can you respect a teacher that hands out grades? I feel her class was very fair, and if I take another English I will try to enroll in another one of her classes.

I used to think I was the only one who had a hard time with this instructor until I decided to check her ratings here. She is hard because weekly papers count for most of your grade. If your not front and center each week with a paper then you're done. Then there are two mid-term 1500 word papers back to back right before spring break.

The amount of work that she expects you to do is completely ridiculous! I enrolled in her online class and am in hell! This is considering the fact that I am smart and write well. I have achieved high marks in everything I have submitted due to working myself to death! Don't take this class unless you have no life (like a job or other classes).

This was the English class from HELL. I will never take a class with her name on it again. I am a single mother of two young toddlers. I took this class online, and it took up A LOT of my time because Sandie gave out some VERY hard assignments. I want to quit school because of her =(

She really knows her subject and is excellent at explaining when you make mistakes. She seems to intuit your level and helps you stretch your limits. She is extremely fair and allows for resubmissions within given guidelines. Not a class to sit idle in but a great one to actually learn something. Best teacher I've seen in a long time.

I had Ms. B for two semesters! I was shocked when I had her again. She's really tough, but she knows her stuff. I loved her class. She's interesting, enthusiastic, very helpful. If you bring the wrong attitude to the class, you will fail. If you work hard, you will pass. I got an A in both classes. :)

So far I have been enjoying her class she is the tough writing teacher I am wanting. I may sound crazy, but I know that in my job I will be doing a tone of writing and I want be prepared as possible.Barnhouse helps people in the class with things they have forgotten (e.g. MLA) and Even gives us the opportunity to redo our papers for a higher grade.

Took her for a Sat. class, she only showed 3 times out of 4. Too hard to please, kept saying "We need to write at the university level". Too much work, 17 hrs. of videos, several papers, 3 tests plus in class work. I have never made under an A in English before, and didn't even receive my grade in the mail.
