Comment:

Overall I wasnt super impressed with Sra. Barboza. There werent many organized lectures and we just read from the book all the time. We had way too many VHLs due and on tests she graded pretty strictly and wasnt very clear on some criteria. Though she is clearly knowledgeable on her content, her presentation isnt very strong.

Thank you, Dr. Barboza, for the most memorable class of my entire college career (and this was the last requirement I needed to graduate--201). She helped (demanded?) our success. We had no choice lol. Excellent Instructor who has first-hand experience w Latin American culture.

Fantastic professor! She expects you to do assigned work and turn it in on time, so if you are irresponsible and unorganized then you will struggle! You cannot learn a foreign language in 7 weeks so studying and completing assignments is a must!

I have spent 34 hours and 11 mins in this class doing the homework... The class average is 22:46. (and this for mini summer mester May 31-June 28).So if you don't have the time, do not take her. I literally have 20 assignments a day. And there is so much information and things for you to do, it's hard to retain the information.

Mean! she is not willing to work with you and if you forget to do an assignment she isn't willing to help you. She does not care about the success of her students. I have her for an online class and i was hospitalized and she didn't let me make up any of the work that I missed. Don't expect her to help you of your behind or forgot to do something.

Sra. Barboza made it very clear the first class what was expected in terms of studying time outside of class and homework to be done. She was also very clear on how important attendance was in order to pass the class. I would take her class again in a heartbeat! I got an A in SPA 101 and a B in SPA 201

After doing really well in 101 I thought that Spainsh 102 would be a breeze.. Not the case! Barboza nearly drove me insane constantly worrying about my grade, her point system is flawed and she does not give clear directions. I went to every single class but still stuggled to get a B. Just be warned that you'll need serious studying for this class.

Sra. Barboza was clear, patient, and very helpful. There were definite requirements in terms of studying, attendance, and class work, but if you do the work, the class is fairly easy. She is patient and understanding if you make a mistake, and explains things well. I will definitely be taking her 102 class as well.

She is the best teacher I've ever had in college. She's hard but fair, you are sure to learn something. She makes Spanish a lot easier than it really is. I plan on taking Spanish 201 and hopefully 202 with her. I couldn't ask for a more outstanding teacher!!

Great teacher. You must do hmwk and attend class. Material is tough but if you are trying she will work with you. Very structured so you always know what is expected of you.Will help you if you ask.Thoroughly goes over material and makes class fun. Ignore the bad comments about Sra Barboza. They mostly come from people who didnt attend class on a regular basis, rarely did the homework, or ask questions about material that was covered weeks ago when they didnt come to class. If you show her youre making an effort, she is more than happy to help you.

Rude, rigid & intimidating. Announced to class on 1st day 2/3 will be gone in week. Partic. grading system is if she picks you to answer a question & you answer in Span. correctly. Tons of homework and she sug. 8hrs of study time. She says she starts as if you have no experience but starts very fast & ignores Q's. Wont work w/ disability services.

This teacher is the worst Spanish teacher in the history of them all. Her class will scare you out of wanting to even take Spanish. Even if your an A student beware of this teacher, she will ruin your GPA and will not help you outside of the class unless you bother her constantly.

Professor Barboza is amazing. Her class is pretty hard at times, but if you do the work and show that you're interested in the subject (i.e. don't just show up for class but also "BE THERE" in class) you'll get a decent grade. She was always willing to help me outside of class if I had any issues. She's the best kind of teacher "Tough but fair."

Has great system for grading class participation. Assigns daily homework. Covers every page & every exercise in text, workbook & lab manual. Provides all the help u need, just ask. Read book, learn vocabulary, do worksheets & homework, answers questions in class - u will do well in the class & know what u need for next class. Final exam is tough!
