Nice teacher and a fair grader. You have to actually buy the books because we used the Mercury Reader and Handbook a lot. She is very helpful when you are having trouble writing a paper. She likes when the class participates. Besides the papers we have journals to write every now but it is not too much work. She tries to make class interesting.

She is a nice woman, just go to class and make sure you write your papers exactly the way she wants you to write you it. Just follow her guidelines and structure for your papers and go in and have her edit it before you turn it in. Participating in class helps too.

She's okay... nothing spectacular but nothing horrible. I don't feel that I became a better writer from the class, but not all the papers were extremely boring. She wouldn't be my last choice for a teacher but not my first either

Urban was a great teacher to take UCWR with! She was really laid back in class and loved to make jokes and try to get us all to laugh. I enjoyed going to her class. She graded tough, but it helped in the long run. Go to her office hours to edit papers- it will help out a lot and show in your final grades!

A great teacher and an even better person! I wasn't looking forward to this class and she made it easy and sorta fun, actually. Very fair, you earn your grade in this class- I recommend to stay after class and talk with her and also go to her office hours. Show a real interest in writing and she's even more likely to help you. She gave me the A-.

I recommend taking her. She is a fair grader and gives grades based on merit-- NOT favoritism. Her grading scale is a little high (a 94 is an A) but she doesn't give out a lot of Cs which is good. (Majority of the class have a B). It is extremely difficult to get an A on a paper in her class though-- in all my papers, I have only gotten an A-.

I can't believe people think her class is difficult! Quizzes are a breeze and she drops the lowest score. Her grading is very fair in my opinion, I've gotten A's on my papers. Don't expect to get an A if you aren't a strong writer and/or don't put any effort in. Ask her for help if you need it. Very nice, funny, and a Great Professor. Take Her

She is so funny. she is welling to help you with all your papers. she even read them and tell you what u need to work on. U dont have to red every story just read some to be able to write something. 3 quizes only grammer. they are extremely easy. the papers are not bad as only as you put effort. show her you are willing to try and she grades easier

She is a tough grader, but makes you a better writer. She is kind of flighty, but makes you laugh. All the conferences I went to were useless, she offered almost no help on my paper and gave me B's on most of them. She admitted that she doesn't give A's very often.

Professor Urban is really nice, but a lot of the time she's not really clear when she's explaining things. For example, she can be really flighty and her sentences tend to deteriorate into her muttering to herself. She's also a tough grader in my opinion, but she will definitely help to improve your writing.

I hated going to this class,its pointless. I would have not had taken it unless it was required (which it is). Her lectures or whatever you want to call them are boring, she mutters alot so sometimes you can't even hear what she is saying. You have to write alot of papers since it is a WRITING class. but she is so picky about them. My highest was B

I came into the class completely dreading it, but I actually do not think it is that bad. The paper topics are extremely interesting. She gives a fair amount of work for the class. The class itself is kind of boring bu you have to come to it because participation is graded heavily. Participate in class! Get on her good side and you will get an A!

Everyone expects UCWR to be super easy; you're forgetting that the point is to LEARN not just to get an A. The quizzes are easy, if you go into conference before an essay and are a decent writer, you should be OK. She is a tough grader, but my writing really improved. i got an A-

Comment:

She is very flighty and you won't enjoy going to class. However, if you do slack off and fall behind, she is very willing to let you make up assignments. The essays are not that hard to write, they're just not very interesting. The quizzes are easy as well. If you don't do so hot, you won't feel bad about it just because of the nature of the class.
