Mr. Spano has been easily one of the top 5 teachers I've had at the JC. He will do anything in his power for you to learn the material. He will give you every opportunity possible to succeed in class and learn. He's inspired me to study and Italian further than his class.

Professor Spano was very helpful throughout the semester. I took the class as a "fun" class, and it was worth it. He expects students to utilize the book and study as they should, but his exams are fair and he does what he can to help you. However, you need to speak up and ask questions if you are lost or confused, he can't just guess.Great teacher

By far the best teacher I have ever had, I took Italian 1 with him and told him that I would not take Italian 2 unless he taught it again. 2 years later he taught it again and I took it. This teacher genuinely cares about his students

It would seem as if the students who did not gain anything from this class did not attend class regularly. I gained an outstanding amount of knowledge because the class was always fun and supplemented with highly useful videos on YouTube that broke pronunciation down so well. This class was awesome and I definitely recommend to future students

Hard to believe that this guy is allowed to teach. He is smart but dumbs it down for the class. He uses an outdated book and likes to talk about himself too much. Look elsewhere to learn Italian

Not recomended. He is very vauge on what will be included on the tests. I havent learned much and his labs dont help. Its hard to follow along as he skips around and still expects u to catch on. He is more into italian fashion and culture than actually getting u to learn the language. Take someone else if possible. HARD CLASS even if you study

Prof. does not spend enough time on material in class. His language lab practice is practically non-existant. He is often not available for office hours. He jumps around in a text book that he says he doesn't like in the first place. The langauage text that I purchased with the book is outdated in the lab.

There are always different opinions about a subject, and it seems like there is a difference of opinion on this teacher. We all like an easy class, this is not an easy class. And the worst part is that I have hardly learned anything from him but he still expects you to know everything. Take another teacher, there is NOTHING to gain from this class.

This guy is funny, class was often fun. I definitely recommend him. He helps with pronunciation if you're off, yet understands this is new to most students. He is generally helpful, somewhat flexible and wants his students to do well.

If you want a class where the instructor hands out candy, assigns easy homework and then let's you complete it in class - here comes your next A+. Spano is a nice and funny guy but he alittle conceited. I didnt feel like i learned that much italian but i did learn about the culture which was nice. we rarely had homework. we had about 4 tests that were kind of hard because he was vague about what they were about..but he is good teacher..
