I've had to take classes with this professor because she's the only one who teaches it. In the beginning theory classes, she provides an intermediate knowledge of the topic. But, you should expect to study and self teach for the upper classes - each class becomes review of homework she assigned the previous class, without a lecture on how to do it.

Had to change my major because of her and other reasons, she first starts off as great teacher and then her true colors show. If the entire class doesn't do good on exams she will start picking on each and every one to answer every homework assignment question out loud. If you're a slow learner I would advise staying away from her!

Dr. Graef is one of my most inspirational instructors that I have had in my college career. She is very helpful, kind and smart. Her personal experience and knowledge will make you not only a better musician, but a better person. Dr. Graef, You sure left your precious influence in my life. Thank You!

For beginning theory she's great. Advanced, she is too scattered, not organized. Goes off on tangents and appears to avoid teaching, which the class loves, but I am here for an education! Makes for unclear objectives.

She takes way too long on some subjects, then springs a new one right before finals. Sometimes she doesn't time her classes well, and quizzes end up being only 15 minutes. She certainly knows her stuff, and goes through things thoroughly.

What I missed in my undergrad theory, I picked up in grad school through her. She had a lot of ways of explaining things that just worked better for me. She actually loaned me books to help me write my grad paper. One of the better teachers I had at CSULA

Just cause she's hot, does not make her a good teacher. She is very impatient, she doetn give extra time in class to explain when people dont get something. Grades tough. Shes a better teacher in musicianship than theory. I wish there was another teacher.

She's really nice but doesnt explain things very well. She kinda rambles on a lot about things other than what she is supposed t be teaching. However, SHE'S HOT!!!

Absolutely brilliant professor. CSULA is fortunate to have her. I predict that one day she will move on to bigger and better opportunities so take her courses while you have the chance. I think about her often. She had a very positive impact on my life.
