Not my field and the subject is not my strong point. If you show up and do the work, she is there for you when it gets confusing. And it got confusing for me, but I got thru it. I'm not a good writer but now Im more confident with it now.

I took 251B (Criticism 2) with Sara and she taught some interesting material but she would throw an advanced theory at us, assign a difficult reading and then apply it to something "modern/out of the box" while just expecting us to understand it. A lot of discussion, little structure. Beware if that's not for you.

I don't think I can say enough great things about Sara; she is an amazing professor who intellectually pushes us to critique literature from so many areas. We had an entire lecture devoted to hip-hop! She is a clear lecturer who is both insightful and engaging. Fair marker; seek her out if you're interested in examining literature and oppression.

Sara is a real breath of fresh air. She is easy going and understanding without sacrificing a due amount of pressure to inspire and push her students harder. She is genuinely interesting and passionate about her subjects. Her writing and teaching style is to-the-point and compelling. And to top it all off she likes video games. Love this woman.

Very approachable. She's probably the fairest marker I've ever taken a class with. If I had one complaint, it's that the course material is pretty difficult, and her open lecture style can sometimes leave you a bit lost as to what she wants you to learn from the course readings. But again, she'll willingly clear up any questions you've got.

Some of the material on the course is really difficult, but it is extremely helpful stuff once you grasp it. If there's something explained in class that you don't understand, Sara is accessible - answers e-mails quickly, and holds extended office hours when papers are coming due. She will even look at drafts! Detailed, helpful feedback on papers.

The content of the course is interesting and the Prof. clearly knows her stuff, but the material requires clarification which is not adequately provided by her. If you like structured lectures and clarity, then she is not for you. A lot of class time is spent doing group work. No midterm. Take home final. Very fair marker.

She was generally good and I liked her for the most part, but she did not grasp my final essay at all - very disappointing. To increase the clarity of my essay, it seems, she completely changed the context of what I had said. Would have liked to discuss it with her though, had she understood.
