Attendance and participation is mandatory (30% right there). Although she's not clear and her classes aren't very informative, it's an extremely easy A in her class, so show up, do the summaries, make sure she knows who you are, and participate in class discussion and youre good to go!

Comment:

Sara is the sweetest prof Uvic has to offer. This course was an easy A, all that needed to be done was attend class and submit summaries. I don't know how anyone could complain about such a fun course. Sara was very clear in her expectations, and if you followed instructions you did well in the course. She was very helpful with questions

Sweet lady, terrible professor. Her syllabus is unclear, as are her expectations. When students attempted to clarify things she would treat them like idiots. Very opinionated and makes uncalled for comments that support her biases. Classes are hectic, TA's do a lot of the preparing. Should just retire & do us all a favor.

The course itself is not that hard to do well in, so I'm unsure what other students are talking about. All you have to do is write a weekly journal and write a paper. The course is an easy A if you write well. As far as Dr. Leiserson she's a very approachable, friendly, and knowlegable prof!

I have never met someone so underqualified to be a professor. She appears to be very uneducated, and if she is educated, her bias and unclear communication of the knowledge she has is the reason I have no respect for her. The university should fire her immediately. The students that had to pay for tuition to sit in her class deserve a refund.

Sara is very nice in person but she is completely unhelpful, unclear, and has no expertise to be teaching this subject. Her words to us were 'if you read the textbook, you know as much as I do.' The lectures were word-for-word from the text. It was the most painful class that I've ever tried to sit through! Don't do it!

I contemplated stabbing myself in the eye with my pencil just so I could leave class. She has no knowledge of the subject, just personal experience. I am completely confused as to how she has a job with our school, every person in the class openly disliked her teaching methods (or lack thereof).

Worst teacher i have ever had ever...since elementary school. Doesn't lecture, and gets angry at the class if they can't answers classmates questions. HELLO!!? Isn't that what you are there for? Save yourself,do not register no matter how interesting the class!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rumors are all true. Although very nice, she is a disaster. She never lectured. The class was common sense 101. So frustrating. 25% of our mark was based on group presentations and every student, all 70 of us were given the same grade 19/25.At least half the class complained to the department

The most unclear,unorganized prof I have ever had. Barely ever lectures, instead shows films. Be prepared to rely on your TA for clarity regarding assignments/tests because she does not understand her own assignments. Her class was a waste of $ and time.
