Here is how to get a good grade in this class: Read the textbook, read the articles she assigns, take down notes in class, and ask questions when you have them. Her lectures are painfully boring and her tests make no sense so if you can take someone else, DO IT, but if you have to suffer through this class with her it is possibly to do well.

Horrible!! Doesnt actually teach you anything and instead talks at you in a monotone voice the whole class. Would recommend trying to take someone else for sure.

Shillinger is not a good prof. She will give lectures that are not related to the readings and talks about current events more than the actual material. She talks way too quiet and gets mad when you don't have a question. Throws a stuffed cat at students to talk. Tests are not clear. Do not recommend.

Lectures are boring, but the material and events discussed in class are pretty interesting. She gives you a study guide before each exam, but if you want to do well I recommend doing most of the readings and going over your notes thoroughly. Tests are challenging and sometimes confusing, but she grades on a curve which helps.

Prof Shillinger is one of the most boring professors I've had so far. However, the material she teaches is interesting enough where you stay involved. As long as you show up to this class and pay attention, it should be an easy A.

Lectures are boring and off-topic. Lots of reading that never shows up in class but are on tests. Doesn't really understand how to use a computer. We are usually behind schedule.

She has no lesson plan ever. She goes off on random rants about things that don't really have to do with what we are talking about. She makes us read out of the book, but none of what she goes over in class has to do with the book. Her lectures are about random topics and they don't link to each other. She throws a stuff cat to get people to talk.

She was a terrible professor at best. If you do not pay attention, she will throw a plush cat at you. Much of what is on her exams, is not discussed in class.

I find her classes interesting enough, and the material addressed is great, HOWEVER, I cannot for the life of me figure out her exams. The questions are vague, the language she uses to ask the questions are confusing, and to me at least, will not reflect your actual knowledge of the material. Its like trying to solve a puzzle w/ missing pieces...

She is the absolute worst and kinda looks like Grumpy cat. She is opinionated and rude and asked for students to speak their opinion by throwing "Mr. Talkie"(a stuffed cat) at you. When you give her your opinion she says you're wrong humiliates you in front of the class and then continues to get farther off topic. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!

Dr. Schillinger is probably one of the most boring lecturers I have ever had. She obviously know the subject matter very well, but does not provide for much discussion and is not very open to new ideas from students. This class was offered for 1 day a week and 3 hours long, expected to be there the ENTIRE time even though she shows up late to class

I didn't like this course. I felt as though Dr. Shilinger didn't ever have a plan. Class was canceled a lot and we got behind and it felt like a waste of my money. She is caring and passionate about her subject but it just doesn't transcend into the material. She throws a cat around and if you catch it you have to talk. Not enjoyable.

You can tell that Dr. Shillinger is knowledgeable about the subject matter, but she is VERY opinionated. If you try to speak up about your opinion in class, there's a good chance she'll say it is wrong and probably interrupt you while you're talking. It's best just to hold your tongue and try not to fall asleep during the boring lectures.

I saw Dr. Shillinger had bad reviews but I figured how bad could she be for a four week online class that only lasts four weeks? She was terrible. Her instructions weren't clear, when you asked questions she didn't answer them helpfully, and she tested us on content we never talked about. Take someone else if you can.

The lectures can be sort of boring, but they are so insightful. I learned so much from Dr. Shillinger. I loved this class, and decided to minor in ERS because of it. You could miss up to 4 unexcused classes before your grade dropped.

She's extremely boring, lectures tend to drag on. We had 2 exams and a final, and a few pop quizzes. She assigned readings but we never talked about them, and they were on the exams! She sent around an attendance sheet everyday so that's where you'll get all of your credit. It's not a bad class, just very boring!

This teacher loves to get off topic. There are days where all we discussed was current events and did not even get to take any notes. She takes attendance (when she remembers). The tests are curved and are not super hard if you at least skim the readings and take notes in class. She always talks nice and slow.

Awesome professor, took her for two different classes. She will give you some facts that you might not want to hear and give you the history behind the oppression of minorities, but she does it in a good way. She doesn't blame anyone, she just gives you the facts. If you pay attention, read, and engage in discussions it isn't boring at all.

I was considering a minor in ERS before i took her. Lectures are horribly boring, and a single power point slide with take THE WHOLE HOUR because she gets so off topic. She can be condescending and acts like everything she says is the news of the century. Shes a very smart woman and knows her stuff, but the way her class is conducted is not good
