More interested in students getting the format right then the material. Enjoys blaming students for low test scores and when no one got the guidelines right because she did not tell us what she wanted before we did any assignments. Let us make mistakes before scolding us and assume that the students are mind readers. Acts like she never taught.

2 exams, some hw, a short presentation, and a 10 page paper. So boring! Always takes attendance. Takes things the wrong way then holds a grudge if she feels she was disrespected.

It's so sad that I was so excited for this class at the beginning of the semester, but by the end I was thankful that it was over. The subject is fascinating, but Soh made it boring. Her lectures aren't engaging (I fell asleep a few times). Remember to always do the readings and attend the TA study sessions!

She seems like a nice Korean lady, but don't let your eyes be fooled. She has an accent, so she is hard to understand. You are forced to buy the book she wrote and take a test on that material. Her lectures are hard to stay awake for. DO NOT take this professor, she is horrible and does not teach the material at all. She just wants money for her bo

She's definitely more interested in her own work on Korea than anything & wants you to be too. The class isn't bad though. Lots of movies. Tests are easy if you do the reading & take notes. Assignments always require you to take a trip to some museum/etc. This was tough for me being new in SF, having to find my way to these places alone via RT.

She has a very noticeable accent, but teaches straight out of the book and has powerpoints, so just read those! She tells you exactly what she wants you to know for tests. But she IS mainly interested in her own work, and doesn't focus on large issues. Reread the chapters before the tests and you'll do fine.

Prof. Soh is a really sweet lady. Her lectures are kinda difficult to understand but she did show some really interesting movies! A lot of people complained that she only wants people to buy her book so that more people buy it, but i borrowed it from the public library and it worked out just fine. Also, attend the TA's study sessions! They help!

I was extremely upset to find that I received a B in her class. She asks ridiculously difficult questions that are hidden in the textbook and have little to do with the overall subject. I liked her at first but now I see that she has no interest in her students. I will never take her again.

Comment:

Soh is very hard to understand. She makes the class as dull as it can be, and switches up when she takes attendance to make sure her students attend. This class is compromised of lectures, three tests(which she shows over the projector and are timed per page), and various homework and pop quizzes. I do not recommend taking one of her classes.

Mrs. Soh is an awful, awful professor. She teaches straight from the book, nothing original. She has an unintelligibly thick Korean accent. I stopped going to the class because she bored me out of my mind. DO NOT take this class.

WOW. Possibly the worst professor I've ever had in my 4 years of college. Her lectures were dry and boring and I never learned anything. The only reason why I attended class was because she took attendance. Who still takes attendance in college and calls out names of a class of hundreds? I learn more from the book, seriously.

Quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. She is so boring it's hard to pay attention for more than 2 minutes without looking at the clock. I don't learn anything in class, and she just tests on tiny little facts that no one would pay attention to in the textbook. The only reason she is probably teaching is to force students to buy her book

If you want a great teacher that inspires you to learn more, then DON'T TAKE her!!! I've never been to a class as unorganized and uninspiring as hers. She has interesting views on women in Korea and about Korea in general, but she doesn't practice what she preaches. She marginalizes her students and degrades them if she doesn't agree with you.

Professor Soh's class was so boring it was difficult to pay attention. She cancelled our 6 crdt class regularly for "research". She refused to accept one of my assngmnts when I was sick, even though I brought it to the previous class, one she cancelled. When I protested,she attacked my charactor and was very unprofessional. Do not take her class.

Her classes are focused more on her research than on other wider issues in Anthropology, which can become very boring if you are not interested in South Korea. Overall I found the 2 classes I took with her to be unhelpful and not very stimulating. One good thing is I know more about So. Korea than I could have ever imagined.
