She is one of the best. After the first session, I decided to drop, because she seems so mean, but she has the softest heart ever. She is so supportive and she always encourages you to get out of your comfort zone. I loved her class. However the attendance was not mandatory, I was always present and enjoyed her knowledge. She knows a lot!

The class made it feel like I had used my tuition to pay for a homeroom. Rarely was there a lecture & you're on your own for the research paper, but she'll provide advice + things you can look into to complete it. She's sweet, means well & is helpful if you go to her, but during class, you'll feel like you're wasting time. Take @ your own risk

Dr. Maley is a wonderful teacher. She gives every student a chance and will push you hard. If you dedicate yourself to the work, she will notice. Take her class and you will be surprised of what you are capable of academically. Going to the LOC is required, but you will gain so much from the experience. I love Dr. Maley and I recommend her to all.

I took her class twice for ENG 101 and 102. She is great!!! I love her personality. There is one big project that you focus on throughout the semester but as long as you chose a good topic you may enjoy it, it requires a trip to the library of congress but in all its a great class.

Incredibly kind professor. She is always happy to help, but wants to see an effort from her students. If you do the work, you'll have no trouble. No need for textbook, biggest thing is trip to Library of Congress. A bit of a pain, but really interesting.

I'm an adult student attending college after a long absence. What a wonderful experience Dr.Maley's class was! I thoroughly enjoyed it and was kind of sad when the class ended. I would highly recommend her class to anyone and MC is lucky to have her!

You write a lot. You must do research at the library of congress. Focus on research & footnotes. Kind and understanding. Loves to work with you. Gives you opportunity to pull your grade up if you need it. Papers could be hard if you aren't computer literate or if you have never written papers in English before.

Dr. Maley was awesome.. She is very motivated and always helps you out. It is focused mainly on research but in the long run it is helpful. She literally tells you exactly what to talk about and gives you great feed back. It is up to you if you are willing to take the advice!! The most useful English class at GW. You will learn a great deal about research, and it is a great course for freshman. Granted, you'll become very friendly with the Library of Congress manuscript room, but the skills you gain are worth it, considering most kids here don't even know about Aladin.
