I couldn't stand Dr. Boegeman when I took Biochem I and II with him. After scoring above the 95th percentile on biochemistry on the MCAT and acing my first semester of medical school, I have nominated Dr. Boegeman for the teaching award every year since. If you plan to go to medical school or grad school, take these classes.

Probably the most difficult class I have taken at UD. Get ready for your GPA to tank. Yes, he knows chemistry very well, but he has NO MERCY with exams. He is slightly condescending at times but he is very good at what he does. I would NOT recommend taking him for chem unless you're a chem major, a very good one at best.

This man knows his chemistry... His lectures are so good and clear and the homework isn't bad. But man, when he hits you with those tests, you might cry. They're "multiple choice" with like 7 options, all of which are similar or partially right. So that can be frustrating. But I learned a lot and enjoyed the class itself.

Dr. Boegeman is a great professor. The material he teaches is hard and you have to earn your grade, but it is worth the work. Also, the labs are fantastic! He puts in a lot of time to make sure we get the most out of lab and lecture. I would definitely recommend his classes!

Eccentric, dedicated, intimidating, and challenging. I appreciate his vigor, but his teaching style scares students away. If we were already experts in chemistry, we wouldn't be taking these classes! I might've been a chem major if I didn't have to face Boegeman again in the more advanced classes. It wasn't worth the ruined GPA.

His lectures do not relate to his tests which are extremely hard. For Gen Chem two are first two exams had medians of 60.0 and 62.3 percent Only reason I would suggest him for a chem major is that he makes you learn the material obsessively. If your not chem (biopremed) he will ruin your gpa take it in the off semester when he is not teaching.

Boegeman is the worst. I'm not just being spiteful either. He is extremely condescending. If you don't appear to be naturally gifted with chemistry after the first day, don't expect him to give you the time of day. Unless you somehow screw up minor details, of course. He lost several of my assignments, admitted, and gave me 0 credit. Thanks, Dr. B.

He is an annoying, self-absorbed man who hates answering questions and wants his first year students to fail. Unfortunately, he's the only option for taking general chemistry. If you want to pass, never miss class, read the textbook obsessively, study for hours every day. If you have questions, try to get answers out of him during his office hours.

Boegeman is a man among boys, when it comes to Chemistry. His voice soothing, his socks inspiring. He is hard, but you learn as much about life as you do chemistry in this class. Remember to never leave home without your periodic table. His tests are hard as carbon in a crystal lattice structure.

Stay away from him if possible. He is very condescending and has no interest in the students learning general chemistry, only showing how great he is. Why the department continues to let him run off students is beyond me. His lectures are fairly clear but he hasn't learned to translate them to tests which are unreasonable at this level.

Ok, I just need to begin this by saying that IN LECTURES, Dr. Bogeman is great. He is informative, attentive to students' questions and makes me laugh every class (not because he's stupid, because he's genuinely funny). He provides review sessions. ATTEND THEM. As for tests, he is heartless. You know "The Grinch" song? Insert Dr. Bogeman.

this was the hardest class i have ever taken. to his credit, he is clear about what he wants and genuinely loves his subject. that said, he is extremely condescending, plays favorites, and is just plain distractingly weird. completely unhelpful outside class. take his class if you love chem and want it to take over your life.

Charity prohibits comment on his wardrobe. Treated the class like kindergarteners and was exuberant in his condescendingly false enthusiasm. Did not answer questions that inquired deeper into the material. Seemed to enjoy baiting students into anwering questions incorrectly, and although he knew his stuff, teaching clarity was sometimes an issue.
