I am graduating from the U of S and I can honestly say that Scott Dunbar is the best prof that I've ever had. Take his course. It is life changing!

If you enjoy your average then don't take this class. At the start of the course Dunbar tells you that if you do the readings, come at class and study that you will be getting an 'A'. I attended the class, worked hard on my paper, did the readings and still have done very poorly. His final was nothing like he said it would be. Insanely hard.

He's probably the best teacher I've ever had, he knows his material and teaches it extremely well. However, be warned, you will need to know ALL the material he teaches to get good marks. Don't miss any classes and study HARD. Learned a ton in the class though and it was interesting.

Enjoyed his class immensely. Very helpful. I found him to be very knowledgeable and knew what he was talking about. If you want to get a good quality religious studies class this is the one. I wish he was teaching more as I would definitely take another class with him and highly recommend him.

he makes it clear from day one that he is a hard marker but he tells you what will be on the test so it balances out. Awesome guy and I would definetly take a class with him again. Knows his stuff and loves the subject a must have for the eastern religions.

Class was super interesting, Scott was awesome. Very approachable, funny, laid back. The only bad thing that I would have to say is that his exams are really hard. Very tricky. Took it during summer session, so not sure if this makes a difference compared to regular session.

Awesome professor. Very interesting and doesn't teach straight from the book. He can be a really hard marker, but if you know your stuff, he will give you 90+. Easily approachable, definitely an awesome Hinduism teacher.

Exceptionally clear and extremely funny, you can't help but love this guy. He gave warning on the first day that he gives both the highest and the lowest marks in the department, but if you're a good student you have nothing at all to worry about. If you have the ability, he is happy to give 90+ on exams/assignments. One of the best Relst profs.

taught the eastern religions. seemed to know what he was talking about, and his class was at least interesting. however, half the term papers were marked by a grad student, and half by himself. not a fair system. that's really my only complaint about the guy.

Spaeks with passion, easy to talk to. Some come down on him for being tough on exams. If you don't accept the level of work and study expected in his class, you will have a tough career as a student, because it gets worse in upper year courses.His workload compared to second and third year course is rather average.

Sucks! Stay away. I got good marks, so it is not about me being vindictive. Not a good prof. for Univ. level teaching. No deep knowledge about subject. Ask few questions in class and would try to shut everyone with lame excuses(like lack of time in lecture). Himself would drag the lecture unnecessarily but w'd not allow time for class questions

This guy is fake. He does not like students asking him questions. Does not have knowledge beyond his notes. How can you study Religion if you are not allowed to ask questions and clear your thoughts!! Good in talking but bad at heart. His only interest is to get good recommendations from students. He is one of the worst profs I've ever had. He marks extremely hard for a first year course, and expects the work to be at a third or fourth year level. His tests are veryhard, asking material that he doesn't discuss in class. I emailed him about 2 girls that always talk in class, maybe he could ask them to be quiet, but he ignored my complaint.

Easy if you follow and take good notes. Expectations are very clear, no surprises. Not too sure what people are saying with "subjective" marking because he really doesn't get to know us on an individual basis. But fair marking on tests and overall, very clear and you get a good grasp of the material.
