This is not an easy A, but I would still take him again. Although he is a tough grader, the lectures are interesting and will make you actually want to show up to class.

Professor Galloway (call him Scott) was definitely one of the funniest teachers at CSUF. Has the passion to teach philosophy and shows his knowledge of the field. 3 essays make up 95 % of your grade. 10 one page summaries are used to determine a curve in your grade, so you should do them. Heavy reading. Overall a great select. Highly recommend.

He's a good prof & gives lots of examples to get you to understand. However, he tends to go off topic so he'd be teaching until the very last second of class. Theres a one page paper due every week on readings but he doesn't really grade them hard so the grade is based off the midterm and final. I'd take his class again bc he's friendly & welcoming

You'll pass with a B (he curves) if you put in the effort or are good at writing. Pay attention and be prepared to take notes, you'll learn a lot. Online writing assignments based on the readings are easy, as long as you turn in the work, you'll get 100% credit, so make sure not to miss any, it'll help tremendously with your grades.

He mostly just speaks during lecture times and attendance is not required but if you want most of the information on exams you should show up. You only have two exams but he gives you the questions before hand and you are allowed to have notes inside your blue book. He just talks a lot during lectures, which can be really boring.

One of the best professors I've had, I wasn't going to take it due to the reviews on here. But I'm glad I didn't listen. As long as you attend class you will do good on the exams, plus he lets us use one page of notes. Scott is a hilarious professor and makes philosophy interesting, I wish I could take him again. Really recommend him.

Professor Galloway is a very good teacher, and works hard to help every student. He wants each student to earn the best grade possible. He is fair when it comes to measuring both effort and correctness. His lectures are really fun, clear, and easy to understand. He makes an almost 4 hour class go by fast. The tests are hard, so study weekly.

I enjoyed his class! Learned a lot. Grade is based on written exams. He is a tough grader. Only one person would get an A on an exam each time.

people in the comments below that said his tests are "hard" are what you call the "lazy, want to get by by doing absolutely nothing" type of students. Professor Galloway is so hilarious! He lectures with deep passion and knowledge of the subject and makes the class fun! Study guide is exactly what is on the test! 10 one-page summaries and 3 exams.

I would not recommend this class at all. He's a funny guy, but is disorganized. Students don't find out their final grade in the class until ONE MONTH AFTER THE SEMESTER ENDS, which is ridiculous. You never know the grade you get on the exams so you never know what to improve on. Every week there's a one page paper to write and expect 2-3 exams.

had to read a good amount, and wrote 10 one page papers for homework throughout semester. TOUGH GRADER for essay test questions. BE VERY THOROUGH. HOWEVER, allows a page of notes for each test. HEAVY LECTURE CLASSES, but if you like controversial topics and seek to fulfill a GE, go for it.

One of my fav teachers. Class is just lectures so pay attention. Attendance is not required but you should go because he explains the hard to read philosophical stuff really good. Tests are pretty easy if you take good notes. Phil isn't my major but I still got an A. I would definitely take another class w him

Quiz every week. Hard grader and super picky. Goes off topic a lot, never finishes lecturing on time. FInal is worth like 50% of grader. Wouldn't rec unless you are good at only taking tests.

Scott's lectures are funny, interesting, and accurate. However, for a 100 level class, you need to actually work for your grade. I went in as a Phil major about to finish my degree, so I didn't think a 100 class would challenge me at all. I didn't really try on my first exam and ended up getting a B, so I had to amp it up to get my A in the class.

Scott is a chill professor. Attendance is not mandatory but you will definitely need the notes to prepare for exams. You can read your notes in the exams. Only 3 exams and he gives study guides which includes the exam questions. One page paper weekly (extra credit). He uses a weird way to curve so it is easy to pass but very hard to get an A-.

Professor Galloway is super entertaining and funny yet I admit dozing off in class a couple times. I didn't take the class too seriously once I discovered how hard it is to get an A. Still easy to pass if you do well on the tests. Do the homework, there's one assignment per week. I got a B despite missing class several times.

Scott's incredibly intelligent. If you actually pay attention, you'll really enjoy coming to class. If you take him, try engaging in his lectures & you'll see how interesting it is. This class is no doubt, put in the effort & you'll get out what you put in. Only 3 blue book exams- if you do the optional weekly papers, he'll round your overall grade

He was cool. He assigns reading responses out of the book, but he doesn't read them, they are creditno credit. Do them tho cuz they help on the exams, which are essay format &he is really picky. He takes forever to grade also. He's funny, talks about sex a lot. Doesn't really reply to email, go to his office hours. Class is basically lecture&exams

Average class. I think I had higher expectations for it, but it was not he worst class that I have taken. The subject is rather interesting. The readings are not too complex. The class mainly consists of lecture with little participation. Sometimes it could get a little boring. Tests are not too difficult but Professor Galloway is a tough grader.
