Comment:
I went to almost every one of these lectures and took notes. I went to my labs and got good grades, studied very much for tests yet the questions were absurdly challenging. The answers were not in the notes. I could take every test open note and get the same D grade. DO NOT take a class with this professor. Didn't learn anything. Syracuse, fire him

I took this class simply to fulfill my lab requirement yet this is by far my most difficult class. I attend every lecture and get A/B range on all labs, yet I got a 69% and a 48% on the first two exams. I read the textbook chapters, made a study guide, read over all labs and notes, yet could not pass the exams. He purposely makes exams tricky.

Tests are extremely difficult. Gives 3 exams and drops the lowest grade. He's actually a great teacher but he does not teach EAR110 like its a 100 level course. Avoid if you can but if you have too be very prepared for a tough class. Don't let it mess up your GPA.

While lecture is not mandatory, if you skip there's no way you're going to pass unless you're an earth science major. Do not take just for A&S credit

I took this class as my lab science requirement and it was indisputably the most difficult course I've ever taken. Your grade is based entirely on tests (you get to drop one) and your overall lab grade. The material is extensive and the tests are insanely difficult. If you're not willing to throw yourself into geology take another class.

The guy's tests are designed to trick and confuse you probably because he knows most students take this course as a lab requirement and have no interest in earth science or geology. If you take EAR 110 do not take it with Samson

Extremely hard class. Tests are very difficult unless you love earth science and wanna pursue it as your career. Lectures are also really boring. He's nice though and will help you if you ask.

not the easiest science lab class, definetly need to attend lecture and paid attention and take notes, meanwhile,go back to textbook and read /review each chapter and his final are worth two midterm so even if you do well on the midterm if you dont study for the final you can fail this class too. don't rely on his midterm for the final know everyth

Very difficult if your not interested. Suggest taking a different 101 course unless you love inanimate objects. He purposefully makes each question hard on the test. Nice guy, just a rough class.

If you are a geology major, go ahead and take this professor. If you aren't, run fast in the other direction. This class requires the most ridiculous amount of work for a 101 class. I don't believe it should be that easy, but the material amount we were expected to cover is ridiculous, if you have four or five other classes.
