Dr. Simmons is a nice guy, but he makes this class so difficult. The only grades are two tests and about three quizzes, so there's absolutely no room for error. Not to mention the tests/quizzes are pretty difficult. Wouldn't recommend this course to anyone who isn't interested in majoring or minoring in Anthropology. Take a different class!

Though lots of information was covered in lectures, most of what came up in the tests was from the required reading. He did offer a ton of extra credit though.

I took him for my first semester as a freshman and loved it. He gives great lectures especially with is humor. One of the BIGGEST thinks that I noticed on the rest of his reviews people get annoyed that he goes on tangents, but take notes of his tangents because the rants are on the test. take notes of the things he passes around in class too.

uses the most elementary grading system because he's too dumb to utilize traditional weighted categories. Only 2 exams, 3 quizzes, and 2 assignments absolutely no room for error. Boring lectures, he goes on tangents, and wastes time. He claims test/quizzes aren't tricky, they really are. Wouldn't take his class again if you paid me.

Lectures are long and pretty boring, and Id say 85% of the material overlaps with the book, but beware he tests on the things that don't overlap, so you should probably read AND go to class if you want an A. Take him up on the extra credit(attend soccer games), you'll need it. Find a a way to not fall asleep n class and you pass!

He is great person overall. However, his lectures on pretty scatter-brained and you have to write down everything he says. He posts the power points but he doesn't have much info on them to where they are helpful enough. He is willing to work with you which is great! but no study guides. which makes it hard to study when you have so much info.

I took this class to fulfill a University Studies requirement and honestly wish i wouldve dropped it. Theres 3 quizzes & 2 tests that determine your grade and thats it. The tests are NOT easy and seem to have tricky wording/ facts not in the lecture. I thought this was going to be an easy A where if you study you get an A but thats not the case.

Not many chances to make your grade any different because of the system he uses. He gives extra credit for soccer games which is kind of a freebie but has very lengthy and monotone lectures. Nice guy, but material was not made interesting

He had very interesting lectures, but his tests seemed designed to trip you up, even if you know the material..... wouldn't recommend. However, if you do take him, make sure you go over old quizzes and powerpoints very thoroughly -- the book, other than the key terms, rarely contained information that was included on the test.

Very interesting teacher and keeps class fun. Lets class out early. The tests are easy once you realize all you have to do is look over his power points, you will make a pretty good grade. Three quizzes which he even reviews for, lowest one is dropped. Posts slides to blackboard, so if you have a friend you two can switch going to class.

Dr. Simmons is funny and obviously interested in archaeology. He gives out a lot of easy extra credit, and if you come to class and read some of the book, you'll be fine!

hes a pretty cool guy and has an entertaining dry humor but his tests were awful. The questions were incredibly specific from the lectures and the book itself was horrible. he seems to be very scatterbrained and its hard to get in touch with him. the online course got good reviews from my friends but don't take the in class course

Easily one of my favorite professors I've had so far. He has a really dry sense of humor and cracks jokes all the time. His lectures are easy to follow and he shows a lot of movies. Tests can be kind of tough so make sure to read the textbook!!

Dr. Simmons was a very helpful and kind professor. Although Archaeology is not my favorite subject he had a lot of humor to make class interesting. He's such a nice man and his tests aren't hard. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone.

Dr.Simmons is one of my favorite professors on campus. He REALLY cares about your learning and you as a person. Although his lectures can be kind of slow sometimes, he brings up great discussions and frequently brings in artifacts for his students. Tests are of medium difficulty, but just make sure to be in class and skim through the textbook.

Any reviews prior to fall 2011 are void. No longer as easy as it sounds. This teacher completely changed his grading system. This was confirmed talking to him. There is no longer a giant pad grade, easy test questions, and or oodles of extra credit. His lectures are fun and he is nice..tricky..VERY TRICKY tests.

Environmental Anthropology. Really nice guy, pretty interesting class. Had trouble paying attention at some points. Really easy tests and 2 simple "activity papers". Offered multiple, easy opportunities for extra credit points. Sends around a sign-in sheet. Overall really good class, easy A.

He's a super nice guy and he's always cracking jokes in class which makes it enjoyable, even for people that think they would find this a hopelessly boring subject. If you have any questions he answers them to the best of his ability so he's pretty helpful. He's pretty easygoing so I definitely recommend him.
