ENS 438... Its almost as if SDSU said " how can we waste as much of the students time as possible? Oh also lets make this class at the worst time possible too! I like where your head is at... maybe make the content completely useless as well... Reading? let's give them tons of it!" Tinley is a nice guy and ill leave it at that...

First semester teaching this class and first time it was offered to ENS students. Easy class, but a LOT of reading/writing assignments. Really laid back dude with a passion for the subject. Class participation and attendance was terrible only because nobody cared about this class. He presents a lot of questions instead of concepts, can be confusing

Professor Tinley is a very knowledgable man. His class was very interesting. The only problem is that there are 3 required books for the course with A LOT of required reading. Way too much info to cover. My only advice is to participate in class by asking questions and DO NOT fall behind on the reading. I only read about half the stuff and got a B.

Comment:
Not the most interesting class. His lectures are like class discussions but he brushes you off real easily if you don't say something really riveting, people stopped participating after awhile. Only 100 points in the class and if you want an A you need to read everything. If you are ok with a B then go to class and study

A great personality who knows his sports history/philosophy. Very approachable and personable, with quite a history himself (google him)! But I won't lie, I had a hard time getting invested in lectures, which are more of a class discussion. As long as you read, an A for sure. I was too bored to read, so I got a B+ from last minute studying.

I imagine tinley to be a really cool guy outside of the classroom, but he is jst so into himself that he gets extremely wrapped up in his own ideas sometimes that he looses the class in some of his concepts about philosophy in sport. I personal thought it was a super easy class. Just follow his study guides for the quizzes and tests.
