Weiss is a very tough professor, but that shouldn't be synonymous to a bad professor. He is very intelligent and is good at explaining topics. If you are stuck then ASK FOR OFFICE HOURS, he WILL help. However, his exams are VERY tough as he only does short answer. I'd tread carefully if you are taking him for a class after Computer Architecture.

Highly would recommend Weiss for CMSCI 125 if you want to learn. Take advantage of: questions in class, by email or office hours. He is always willing to help. Generous time extension given for Hw and Lab if asked ahead of due date. Will thrive if you put in effort or vice-versa. Responsibility required(Who knew!). Final grade reflects effort 100%.

I came in as an intended math major and was required to take this class. I came in knowing nothing and left knowing nothing. Python is a completely different language and if you don't know what you're doing, you're screwed. Hw makes up the majority of your grade. You either understand the subj or you don't; there's no in between.

Prof Scott is by no means a terrible prof. He is a particular man. He has a certain way about him that makes you not enjoy his classes. Having him for Math Thought made my second semester a journey.

Only read from the textbook. Never actually taught. When I went to his office and asked for help he was condescending and got frustrated every time I asked for clarification. Seemed like he couldn't wait for me to get out of his office. The tests were ridiculous.
