Good prof, loves his subject and isn't super content heavy. There was a textbook, but it was predominantly used for extra reading on what he goes over and wasn't super integral, if you missed a reading it didn't really hinder you. Few assignments, but marked fairly on the few you do have and given lots of time to complete them.

I had a lot of anxiety knowing I had to take an English course at ubc. Being in his class helped me overcome that. He is a great speaker,helpful, nice and funny. If you are concerned about your grade in this course or want to contest something, he is willing to discuss it and see your point of view. Tough marker but extremely fair.

I don't agree with those who have said that Sean is a fair marker. It seemed to me that he was quite unforgiving with his grades. The comments he left on my work often didn't correlate to the grade that I received. I work hard and I felt that I was not rewarded for my efforts. He does attempt to inspire interest in bland course content however.

Sean taught me some great essay writing techniques that I have used in my other classes. He is extremely helpful inside and outside of class so take advantage of his office hours. Also he gives great feedback on assignments.
