He knows his subject. He is deeply intellectual, funny, and you need to keep up and know your stuff. He was going through cancer treatment during the semester and missed only two classes. very dedicated. I liked that he made us see him in his office, once I did he was no longer intimidating. I am taking him again.

He is certainly dedicated to students. He was seriously ill and yet committed himself fully to the class. This was a grad course and he was helpful, flexible, deeply knowledgeable, and encouraging. I learned a great deal and plan to take more classes with him. He is also funny, self-deprecating, and an original.

Loved the class. He is going through cancer so many classes ended early but the subject was fascinating and i learned a lot. Hes smart, funny, expects a lot but is helpful when you go to see him.

The professor spent most of the time badgering political views of people that didn't agree with him. Thought he was funny but it was more pathetic. Had to miss the final after a cousin was killed and took multiple members of the university to force a grade out of my paper just before the fall semester of the next year started.... Classless....

loved this class. it was demanding but we went over more material than any course ever. It forced me to think and rethink and he was amazingly knowledgeable. I never thought it would be so interesting. he is also hilarious.

Not easy to please at all! Grades midterms with sarcastic, illegible scribbles, gives you the opportunity to rewrite them, but not in a timely manner. Does not engage class at all, just talks, talks, talks. Very smart, but unfortunately that's all he is. I would not recommend him unless you're making his course your top or only priority.

he is opinionated, also smart, knowledgeable and is not a professor who you can snow. He helps with your writing and is not someone who people are neutral on. some love him, some are unwilling to do the work, he freaks some people out. there is no neutral ground here. I thought it was great.

He is highly liberal and completely vocal of his views. If you want a good grade in his class you would be best to puppet what he says back to him in your voice. I had As in all my other classes. There was no amount of work you can do to pass if he knows his views differ from yours.

This professor wasn't help, wasn't funny, completely liberal, etc. The way he tried to make everyone else feel dumb and him to look like a genius was almost funny. It was funny to watch these kids believe this man and it was funny to watch how they thought he was brilliant. His system of three exams and nothing else is stupid.

I've had this professor 2x, would take him again. So what if he is opinionated,he is entitled to his opinions. Plus, I'm pretty sure he is smarter than you are, so maybe his opinions are right. I learned a lot in his classes, but mostly I learned how to be a better writer. You quit being a history major after taking him? Good call.
