Shane was an excellent teacher. I took his CIS90, CIS91A, CIS91B, CIS96A, CIS96B, CIS280, and will be taking his CIS261 class. He made major efforts to maintain focus when the discussions escaped the scope of the material, but he was never averse to discussing the minutia if time permitted. Usually responded to email in 36 hours or less.

I've taken all the classes this professor offers. From CIS 264 to Unix Administration to CIS 101. One of the few professors still around that actually cares about students learning. Be expected to sit down and work for a grade - struggling to learn. But struggle is rewarded. Very smart, willing to sit down for hours to help if needed. A+!

Some lab assignments instructions were not very clear however when issues were brought up he quickly gave clear feedback. Midterm and final seemed hard at first but is mostly a rehash of lab assignments. So do the labs and you'll do well. Only negative thing about class is that reading outline assignments must be done by hand (not typed).

I took this online and the professor wasn't very involved. The syllabus was unclear about some aspects of the class. Some students had problems using the required software for the class and it fell on us to help each other because Thomas was nowhere to be found. When questions were posted on Blackboard, the answers were slow and not helpful.

Professor Thomas is one of the kindest teachers at VVC that I have had. I took his online CIS 101 class and passed it with ease. I never purchased the textbook, all the quiz answers are online if googled. He is more than willing to help you if you do not understand an assignment. All labs can be taken over until you get the grade you want.

Not the teacher you want if you've never used a database before (go take a BET class for that kind of primer). He's tough on his homework, but to be fair, he offers plenty of resources and has a good response time to student inquiries (less than 48 hours by email). Good sense of humor, too. Glad I took this.

Shane is a very good teacher. This class is not the easiest class to take. It is very good class but it is not an easy A. Shane is very good at explaining of what needs to be done and he will help you alot. Shane is a good professor this is my second time taking his class and I always pass

Shane is overall a great teacher. He is extremely helpful and very understanding. His work is not hard at all as long as you are here for the lectures. Attendance is not mandatory but it is key to learning how to the labs. I missed a few days and had a hard time taking it in BUT I had Dakota to help me! He was a lifesaver!

I'm not sure I would recommend his online course. When I had an issue I was not able to get a response to emails. Ended up having to go to the school and hunt him down. He was very helpful once I found him in person. His on campus classes may be better.

EXCELLENT...that's all i have to say about that. He is very goofy and fun to be around he makes cumputers soo easy to understand. I attended class because i look forward to his fun easy-going class. No homework. No final. No tests. Just quizzes once a week. Loved tha course;i recommend him hands down! Im taking him every chance i get.

One of the best teachers i've ever had. Really helpful if you get to know him. Always replies e-mails and helps on tests. Cool guy with great stories. ANDDD This is coming from a guy that doesn't like school.
