class is kinda boring because she repeats a lot of the info over and over again. the mandatory book was somewhat interesting. only TWO EXAMS (difficult, lots of writing) and she takes a tiny portion of class participation to determine your grade, SO ATTEND CLASS AND ASK QUESTIONS, and visit her office hours a few times

Very helpful professor. make sure to do all the reading and to do the reading response forms. Go to office hours to ask any questions you might have. She enjoys talking about philosophy with students and seeing all different perspectives. Participate and you will have earned the grade you wanted.

If you want an A be prepared to read/ study 10-15 hours a week and spend at least 1 hour a week in her office. My advice find a super smart philosophy major and make friends! Do the reading response forms, you will need the points

This is a hard class, but that does not mean it is not possible to pass. Take notes, read the book and strive to do well. If you can maintain a routine of doing the work you will get the grade you want. She will definitely teach you something if you were ignorant before the class!

midterm, and final both worth 40 points. participation and hw the other 20 points. read a novel through the whole semester that is way confusing. she will drag every lecture on to fill up every minute and then some in class. the test formats are 4 short answers (paragraphs) followed by an 8 paragraph essay. not enough time. avoid her.

She is a nice lady, but her class is so boring and it is hard to stay awake! She drags on her lectures to make sure that she uses every single minute of class time. She is obsessed with participation points so you should try and talk in class or email her. No homework, but she randomly collects reading logs, so fill those out for points!

She's a very nice person but her class is a waste of time. I might as well have read the book on my own and her lectures are pointless because she just doesnt explain the concepts fully and the "participation" could basically be literally reiterating what she just said...FIND ANOTHER TEACHER--the T.A. should have taught the class.

I'd taken her before, & I didn't really want to have her again, but w/ 301 you don't really have a choice--she always teaches it. I ended up w/ an A in the class but that's only because I studied my ass off the weekend before the exams. there's 3 exams, worth 30% of your grade each, & 10% participation. You basically need to teach yourself.

Took this class during the summer! Class was tedious and boring for 2 hours. Although she is passionate about what she teaches, she drags on and on and on. The midterm and test makes up 40% each (80%) whereas participation is 20%. Participation is not necessary but she loves people who participate, claiming that it can make or break your grade.

she is extremely biased and will not really listen to what students have to say unless they agree with her. otherwise, she will just sort of nod her head and make faces and try to make you feel stupid. she seems like a nice person (maybe) but she is extremely close-minded and boring. she's definitely a cat lady, too..

Shari is a great teacher. If you are a dumb ass who doesn't like to read (like everybody who left negative comments) don't take her, or any philosophy class for that matter. She is extremely passionate about what she teaches which made me even more engaged with the material.

Wow! I never went to class except to take the midterm and to pick it up. She mentioned my lack of attendance but in the end I got a B (which was calculated by the work i turned in, not attendance!) The class was compiling a binder of research and reading responses. Internet Assignments were very tedious...overall this class was awful!

Boring! I showed up to class the first week and on test days. There are only two tests including the final. She loves people who participate (in class, email, or at her office). She says it plays a big role on your grade but I didn't think so. The tests are mostly all essays. Be sure to write a lot because she'll point out things you missed.

This was a boring class. The classroom was nearly empty once the roll sheet had been passed around (which didn't seem to play a role in final grades at all). Visit her a couple times in her office, or you can just email her with questions in order to recieve participation points. Study for the midterm and final and you can pull a B fairly easy.
