Really enjoyed this class! There are four smaller papers (3ish pages) and a longer final (6 pg with research). You do a good bit of reading and you really do need to be prepared, but the book/short story/memoirs selection is wonderful. If you like reading and group discussion (with low pressure) you'll like this class. She gives extensive feedback

Zuber is amazing. Not only is she just a nice person, her class was very engaging and interesting (History of Documentary film). We had weekly readings and films to watch, a midterm and final test, a final paper, and a final project. You don't need the book but you do need to watch the films. All in all, great class and super easy.

Zuber is a kind, soft-spoken professor. Her freshman seminar was not the most engaging during class, but see her outside of class and you will learn a lot about writing. She also let us push back essay due dates whenever we wanted and made sure every student felt welcome. A good professor to choose if you are a freshman.

Professor Zuber is very sweet; however, she's not the easiest grader when it comes to papers (there are four + a longer final paper). Also, while she's into what she teaches, her lectures are not the most clear or engaging, and it's easy to zone out. I'd take her again, though, simply because it wasn't too difficult and she allows rewrites.

So I took this class to fulfill a premed requirement, but it ended up being much more than just a class to fulfill a req. It was involved, time consuming, and sometimes frustrating. However, I was exposed to works that will forever make me more knowledgable of America's literary canon, I KNOW I am a stronger writer, & I'm thankful for the class.

Zuber is flexible with deadlines, re-writes and citing work, typical for a freshman seminar class. She is willing to work with you to improve your paper. She is also the head of the writing center, so going to that is 1. extremely beneficial for work 2. gives you an extra brownie point! The class is very discussion based, and an open environment.

A very sweet lady, particularly helpful, and keen to increase the quality of your writing. However, you will not achieve instant success and will be forced to build and continuously adapt your writing. This is not an easy A, but Professor Zuber made my freshman seminar a very beneficial class.

Such a motherly, kind woman. She's a harsh but fair grader when it comes to essays, and you will learn a lot especially in regard to your writing. Sometimes just a little dull in lecture but her intellect and availability to help outside of class make up for it. Recommended.

Zubes is my favorite teacher of all that I've had at William & Mary. She is great to get to know outside of class too. She is glad to extend deadlines to help you out and understands the pressures college students face. I recommend her highly. This class really improved my writing too.

She is an exceptional teacher. She always gives practice assignments first so that you know exactly what her expectations are, and she goes out of her way to help anybody. She grades essays in great detail, so that you know exactly what to fix. One time I stopped by her office and she stopped what she was doing to just chat with me for a while.

looovve herrr.. So understanding, really cares about her students. She always tries to be accommodating.. not on some sort of power trip like some professors here. If you meet with her to discuss a re-write she really makes an effort to help you with your thesis which makes a huge difference. omg she rocks. get in her class. now.
