Comment:

She's a sweet lady but if you don't get a tutor or took calculus already in high school then this isn't the right class for you. I am usually really good at math but the assignments did not help prepare for the test and the pace of this class moved a lot faster than the other classes.

Comment:

Professor Doran clearly loves her job and she's very good at it. She allows you to use your notes and textbook for exams because she doesn't believe in simply memorizing and regurgitating facts. She wants you to take what you've learned and actually apply it in your own classroom. I'd be happy to have her as a professor again!

Mrs. Doran is a solid choice for a math professor. The class wasn't too difficult and she is willing to use class time (or meet with you) to answer questions/go over material. If you do the homework and pay attention, you will do well

Comment:

Professor Doran is one of the sweetest professors I've had so far at Xavier. While I had to take this class twice due to not trying hard enough the first time, I chose to take her again as I knew she was the best math teacher at Xavier. Cares a lot, doesn't give a large amount of homework and will always meet with students. Take her!

Attendance is not necessary, I missed over half the course and still passed. She is confusing and hard to follow her. She is really passion about the class (Women in Math) but she gets upset when you're not as passionate as she is about the subject. Your grade really depends on the Midterm, Final, and projects.

She gets confusing at times when she gives you a million ways to do a problem but she is helpful if you speak up and ask for help. Pretty laid back class and none of the assignments are hard. Just expect to at times be really annoyed with her.

The worst class I've ever taken. I went to her office hours and she told me that if I wanted her to go through the step by step process of how to work a math problem then I was going about her class the wrong way. I used to like math before I took her class, now I can honestly say I hate it... STAY AWAY FROM HER CLASS!!

Take my advice and avoid her class if you can. Sure, she seems nice, but she is the least helpful woman you will come across. Her office hours are useless and makes the material even more difficult and confusing than it was in the first place. The online homework is a huge pain and doesn't teach you anything either, its just stressful. Avoid her.

I was never a huge huge fan of calc, but Doran gave me the strongest dislike for mathematics in general. Horribly confusing, tough to clarify after class/in office hours, very very difficult. She takes no prisoners! Dry, dreary, and boring. By far the worst math professor I've ever had. Literally the reason for changing my major. Don't do it.

Doran is really nice, and I learned from her real-world examples demonstrated in class. She is willing to help if there are any questions, and she will push back tests if the majority of the class still needs time to grasp the material. The class was slow at first, but I've grown to really appreciate her.

I admit i don't like Calc. Professor Doran made me dislike it more. She is very boring and without a doubt one of the worst math teachers i have ever had. For my class she was very inconsistant and i had issues being able to understand any of her explanations. I ended up with a B in the class but i taught myself everything. She didnt teach.

She is incredibly nice and will joke around with students. She will go slow and make sure new material is understood. She relates the subject to real life and has a lot of extra (but optional) activities you can do to prepare you for tests. Her quizes are easy and short. Tests are about the same. If you're bad at math she is good to take.

She's pretty helpful and nice but I found her class boring. The tests were hard and I just managed to stay above a D. She means well though and is concerned if you're not doing well. I missed two or three classes and found myself totally lost when I came back so I don't recommend doing it if you can help it unless you really know what's going on.

Great professor!!! Incredibly nice, and willing to help out. She does have gracious office hours. When I did'nt understand something, she was able to help me understand. I actually wanted to pick her for math 150, but the math department isn't llowing that anymore-bummer

She is definitely one of the nicest professors there is. Her class was not easy, but with some effort I managed and A. She did not have anything on the test that wasn't gone over in class. Her office hours are generous, so you can see her if you have questions almost all the time. Definitely reccommend, be prepared to work though.

She is a very nice lady. I suck at math but if you do the work and get help if you need it you'll be fine. i think she teaches well. she is also very willing to help you if you need it. i recommend her.
