Comment:

Out of the 100+ credits I have taken at SUNY Potsdam, I have never found someone more interested in what they teacher. She's absolutely amazing and I could listen to her talk about history for hours! There's a lot of reading, but most is highly interesting subjects you didn't learn about in high school. Highly recommend her and I hate history!

Prof McIntyre is by far the best on campus. Very helpful, understanding, compassionate, and caring above all. Loves what she does and has never made a student feel unwelcome or belittled. Requires a lot of work but it's not hard and actually kind of fun. Would take every class of hers if I could. Very inspirational professor. A++++

I don't know, I honestly don't know. I hate history and it doesn't interest me whatsoever, but McIntyre makes the material somewhat tolerable. There's a lot of reading but I guess that the crazy amount of grades can make up for if you get a low score on something. Show up to class, do all assigned work. She's very nice in office hours too!

Was a online/lecture class in which one lecture and some online things. Teacher was great and made it more than tolerable. Tests were from everything she covered and if it wasn't, she would make it known how to get that info. Good teacher.

I took a McIntyre class every semester I had at Potsdam. Not only was she my advisor, but she was also a mentor. Dr. McIntyre is hands down the best prof on campus. Even non-majors should enroll in at least one of her up-divs. I promise you won't regret it. Yes it is a lot of reading, but at least you're learning in the process.

Truly a great professor. All you have to do is the work, which isn't that hard given the hybrid nature of the course. I hated history before taking this class but had such a fantastic experience that I would not hesitate to take another class with her.

To all reading about her. Disregard anything about the 195 course. Any other course she teaches is great. She is one of the best in the history department here and is highly entertaining. She gives a fair amount of work for a history class and is very clear as to what she expects. I highly reccomend her except for the 195 course.

This is, IMO, easily the best history prof at Potsdam, and one of the best professor's overall. She's not an easy grader, but she's a great teacher. The HIST 195 class that gave her bad reviews here was a class she called "Deathstar" because of how challenging they were. I wouldn't base my opinion off those reviews.

I absolutely despise her. Although her lectures are exciting, they don't do much to help you learn about the topic. Her quizzes and essays have nothing to do with her lectures. The only thing pertaining to the lectures are the midterm and final. Very bothered when you ask for help. I do not recommend her to anyone! Even if you like history.

Even though I'm no history lover, the lectures were always interesting because of Dr. McIntyre's funny personality and jokes. She kept it real. Her exams are impossible to pass if you don't do the reading. Simply take good notes, keep up with the reading, prepare in advance for exams, and you'll do well. She's fair and fun.

Entertaining teacher but not very objective in terms of actually teaching history. Gives lots of opinion and unconventional interpretation of pretty well-documented events. Blatantly partisan in talking about current events. Didn't teach about important things like the Declaration, the Constitution, the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, etc.
