Gerking is a good teacher and is willing to help. He believes in improvement and students taking their work seriously. His tests are essay based so you can't take them lightly so ask plenty of questions on the study guide, go over the slides, go to class and pay attention, go to the economics help desk if you need help and you will pass.

Comment:

Dr. Gerking is one of the most knowledgeable professors I've ever had. He forces students to study and learn material on their own, which sinks many students. If you are serious about your education take this class, if you're looking for an easy A look somewhere else but you won't learn as much.

Exactly the title, Math Econ. Most concepts that are just given in most econ classes can be proven through the math presented in this class. Class is interesting but rather difficult. Dr. G makes sure that you understand the material though. Strength in math and attention to detail is a must, but easy grader(in the end)meaning you'll be suprised.

Fairly hard class. Don't recommend unless you have a strong math background. Gerking is a good guy, but you won't learn much in class. If you're just looking for an ECO elective, I would find something else.

Nice enough guy. Many errors on homework answer key and class notes. This is unacceptable for students trying to learn some rather abstract concepts. Found that I relied on the text for the second half of the semester as I distrusted his notes.

I don't know how anyone can say take him to get an A+++++. I am also an A student in mathematics, and he just didn't try to help his students. Tests were very hard, with something like 70-80 percent failing. my roomate taking the same class failed the test I took with a 35, but got a 98 on his teacher's test. just avoid him.

Everybody who is saying this guy is hard took the easy courses in high school. It is such basic Calculus ... derivatives, functions, and plenty of business math mixed in. If you cannot pass this course, or do really poorly in it, then get a political science degree. He's a nice guy and it's funny when people yell insults at him in the big class.

DR. GERKING IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I am an "A" math student and I failed every single test miserably as well as 90% of the class. Only take him if you are planning to fail! Not to mention he is not a very nice man.

horrible teacher. not worth taking, doesnt care about students and whether or not they pass/fail. uses +/- scale as well, which is why i didnt pass the class and have to retake it over the summer AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!

HE IS BY FAR THE WORSTE PRO. AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA. Made the class all about how HE does the problems and doesnt care if the we failed or not. After the first exam, when 90 percent of the class failed, he said that he made a mistake and OVERESTIMATED our math skills. Only take this class if u like learning math from a powerpoint!

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! He only uses powerpoints, which isn't helpful for math. It doesn't help that he always makes mistakes on them too, which makes it harder to study later on. He has no interest whatsoever if his students pass or fail, and because of it, 3/4 of the class is failing.

Only take this class if you have a strong background in math & are willing to study hard before the tests. The tests are made up of examples on the powerpoints & homework problems & you can bring in a 3x5 card. A lot of material has to be covered & every problem seems different. Free response tests w/ only 10 questions.

Worst Class Ever! This guy gives reviews for tests in about 2 minutes, he might as well say just study the chapters we've been looking at. Avoid this teacher at all cost, don't make the same mistake me and about 3/4 of the class made. (3/4 of the class is failing)

Horrible!... way more than half of the class failed each of his test! No review on anything for the test, no extra credit, and always gave a quiz after a student decided to walk out. Everything for the class was on the projecter, he never worked out any of the problems. Please save yourself, since i couldn't save myself!
