Comment:

If taking her online class be aware of shifting deadlines! I would have gotten a 99% or something crazy in her class if it wasn't for missing ONE assignment for a moved deadline. She is extremely strict about no late work whatsoever so make sure you know your deadlines and never have a late assignment.

The class is not difficult, just do assignments and turn them in on time - (Sherri does not like late assignments). Canvas felt a little unorganized for this class - make sure you constantly check for updates and click around - sometimes you are assigned peer reviews and they are hard to find (look at 'course stream' and assignment pages)

As enjoyable as Professor Harvey is as a person I do not hold the same regard for her as a professor. Anytime I asked for feed back I never received any which is quite daunting to say the least. If you take her class it is an easy A if you already have the tools for success. If you do not on the other hand you will be in for a struggle. Good Luck.

Mrs. Harvey is incredible and by far the greatest teacher I've had in my three years at foothill. I am blessed to have met her this quarter and truly believe with any other teacher, I wouldn't have receive the same intense help that I did from her. I missed class a lot (for necessary reasons), and she helped me not fall behind! Thank you 4 it all!

Really disorganized. After taking her course I had the longest period of writer's block - 3 mos. assigns random unrelated assignments. She has unclear expectations. Gives very little feedback yet grades harshly and just says it's bad with no reason & feedback. teaching is low priority for her. don't take her class. waste of time & money

Pretty easy and helpful for her class. May not check her email often but is gracious enough to deal with it in person. Tough grader on essays but as long as you do it how you're told then you'll easily pass.

She's a good writer; not yet a good writing teacher- easily annoyed. The class is disorganized; instructions are vague; there's very little feedback; assignments can change hours before they're due, but can't be late. She's angry when students don't meet her standards, but she doesn't help them improve. Class is frustrating and discouraging.

The first test I got back in her class was an F, with that being said, I passed the final with 100%. Sherri really helped me learn how to write better and gave good constructive criticism on my writing. You need to work for that A and show up on time in her class. The topics in class are all interesting and she helps you if you need it.

She inspires and encourages her students to think and explore ideas, you can learn a lot from her class. There will be presentation assignment, and pop quizzes about reading materials, and you should read for sure. Take her, you won't regret.

Sherri Harvey is a fantastic teacher. All of these reviews are just pussies, who half ass their way through classes. This teacher is a true educator and possesses many positive attributes. I highly recommend taking this teacher for any english class. She engages the class and teaches you how to truly think for yourself.

Comment:

Sherri's funny and keeps class pretty enjoyable. I took her summer course and we only read one book. There were only 3-4 writing assignments for summer which were fairly easy. She grades a lot on formatting in English 1A; more than content. Work hard and respect her, and she will do the same for you. Group project was included.

You could literally be getting all A's on your work and get an A on your midterm and final and she would still FAIL you just because of tardiness/absences. She's an ok professor overall just don't miss class because she will bring your grade down or even worse fail you.

This class changed my perspective on college! Sherri is very kind and wants the best for students, but she is also fair (if you miss a class you get marked down, etc.). She challenges you if you are open to it. She is confusing at times (esp. for assignments), but provides clarity if you push her to.

Don't listen to all the negative reviews. Harvey is literally the easiest teacher I have taken and she assign less work by far than any other English 1a teacher. Take her and do the work. Yes, she is easy and relaxed but people take advantage and then do nothing and of course they will not get an A and then they cry about it. She is super EASY!:)
