I will admit, her lectures were on the dry side. If you are interested in the course material though, as you should be if you have decided to register for her class, you really do learn a lot about health care. She marks the problem sets and only grades them for completion. Her exams/quizzes are not difficult if you just put the time in to study.

Great prof. Hard subject. Read and study - it is college! I did well, however, other students spent valuable class time complaining when they obviously had not completed the reading. I will take her again, although the lectures were somewhat boring. Such is economics though - yes?

She has her own way of think and if you don't share it class is pointless. Gets frustrated easily with students in class, but the homework isn't really graded.

If you have a brain and can sort of use it, then you will do fine in the class. Lectures are sometimes boring, her tangents really make the class interesting. She is very helpful in office hours and her tests are not all that hard.

Prof JL's class was set up to be an easy class. She hardly takes attendance, her problem sets are graded for completion, and the two tests are manageable. However, her lectures were very hard to follow and her graphs were too messy to even copy down. I stuck to the book and did alright. The class was hardly bearable... but she's a very nice lady!

Prof JL really knows her stuff. If you have a prior interest in economics, this will be a great class. I thought she was a little unclear but then I started doing the assigned readings before class and realized she is an excellent professor.

TERRIBLE! I have never failed so miserably to stay awake in a class. Her powerpoints are a more boring regurgitation of the textbook and she often goes on tangents that are incomprehensible. On both tests she marked my answers wrong that were identical to the textbook. Overall, I think she's just getting too old for the job.

easy class, but she is horrible to deal with. you seriously will prefer to fail her problem sets than have to ask her a question. she's rude and makes you feel incredibly stupid for asking questions..

Extremely hard to pay attention to. Very boring. I learned practically everything from the text book. I would not recommend her class to anyone.

As someone already said, all she did in her class was repeat her book, word for word. I discovered this painfully by actually staying up late to read her book, and then going to her class only to fall asleep after the first 5 minutes. What an ordeal.

J-Lans is an extremely smart and kind woman but I think she needs to retire. The material is important but lectures = her book verbatim. The book is great and easy to follow...so, skip the class and buy the book.
