Shirley is just too old. I had to resort to bringing a mix drink to class just to get through the night. I would not recommend taking her. She has her favorites. Too lazy to help with students questions when they ask as well. There are much better accounting teachers at St. Thomas.

She does not do a very good job teaching, but she did give us the resources we needed to do well in class. You need to do the homework assignments even though she doesn't collect them that day. Do the online flashcards for review. If you work hard, you can get a good grade and the class structure will help you learn a lot about accounting.

Can be insulting to students. Very judgmental, and that was only the first day. Over half the class dropped. Wish I would've too. Mentions multiple times how she wants this to "be the real professional world" yet is very condescending. Do not take. She should've retired years ago.

She has to look in her book for answers and will never go on the board to work out problems and when she does its some sort of chicken scratch where its unbelievably hard to see. DO NOT TAKE HER is what I'm trying to say. She doesn not prepare you!

If your lucky enough to get her to write something on the board it will be useless b/c her handwriting is oddly abbreviated and in unrecognizable handwriting. Her office is a mess can even sit.

Terrible teacher. Too old to teach. Doesn't teach at all. Class is painful, she's boring, I could learn just as much if I only read the book and never came to class. A complete waste of time an money. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Despite the bad ratings, Shirley is not all bad. It's true, she is probably not the best prof, but her hear is in the right place. I can tell that she wants you to learn and that she likes it when you ask her for help. It's just a very hard subject. Read the book, and you'll e fine! She did a fine job, and has tons of experience.

Shirley expected alot of her students. She was not easy. However, she taught me the principals of accounting as well was the principals of life and the business world. She was very insightful and motivating. NOT an easy class... But you will learn much!
