Truly brilliant professor. She's got a captivating personality. Her class is fun, interesting and relaxing. As long as you show up to class, and do the homework you'll be fine. She's always available during office hours, and responds to emails very quickly. Wish she was teaching 201 I'd take her again in a heartbeat.

She is one of the best French professors I have ever had. She is always willing to help you whenever needed and is extremely understanding. Her personality makes the course a lot more enjoyable and she forces you to speak french which honestly helps in learning the language. Her tests are exactly what we learn in class, so no surprises.

Professor Halvin expects all students to be more literate than just at the level in which you are taking. She is in her office during office hours but doesn't help much. Don't expect this professor to go above and beyond. Homework is due everyday. Tests are graded extremely strictly and you will get docked points for not including accent marks.

I love her!! Originally tested into a lower level of french but she encouraged me to move up two levels. I did, and she was very understanding about catching up with work. She pays attention to students individual needs. Lots of small tests, one every two weeks, but theyre not awful. Many assignments, but overall an enjoyable and engaging class.

Great teacher! You're never bored in this class and professor Halvin always manages to keep the students lively and engaged. Always accessible outside of class. Lots of work needs to be put in but worth it, she's a fair grader. Really cares about her students. Highly recommend her.

She is helpful in that she will meet with you. Thats about it. She doesn't care where you are in French, and she doesn't take that into consideration. I wouldn't take her again because she takes so many points off for minuscule things, that they all add up and affect you negatively. I wouldn't recommend her if you are not at the "201" level.

Professor Halvin is awesome at teaching french. She spoke in french the whole time but everyone understood what she was saying. French 202 is hard but she welcomed those who didn't understand as well into her office hours. Participation and attendance are mandatory. If you miss more than two classes, your grade is lowered (i.e. from and A+ to an A)

Madame Halvin is adorable, extremely helpful, and encouraging. She loves what she does and is an excellent professor with clear guidelines and grading criteria. With only a few exceptions, there is homework due every class, but it's never too difficult and can be done in less than an hour. The only thing is she takes attendance very seriously.

Enthusiastic and knowledgable. Applies an infectious energy to every class session. Attending office hours will affect you grade in a positive way. Do the homework, study at least an hour a week and participate in class and office hours and you will do fine. She is also one of the most attractive educators I've had the pleasure of learning from.

If your French is 'solid' don't bother taking the class. Test out and get out. Minimal studying should be applied to the competency test if you're that confident with your ability. Teacher is great, by far is not easy but is straightforward.

Such a pleasure to learn from Professor Halvin! She's very strict on attendance, but otherwise her class is very straightforward and easy to understand. Minimal studying is required if your background in French is solid, and she loves those who participate frequently. Take her class, you won't regret it!

I adore Professor Halvin. She is so nice and energetic and really wants to make sure everyone understands the material. The entire class is conducted in French, but she makes it easy to understand and learn. The homework is frequent but light, and the tests were very straightforward and fair. I would definitely recommend this class!

Go to class, memorize your vocabulary because she won't go over the simple stuff with you. Learn the grammar before hand because she explains it in French and you might not understand. She's funny. I like her.

Really wonderful professor! She's genuinely interested in her students and super helpful with pronunciation and grammar. Tests are easy if you understand the concepts and study. Not a harsh grader at all. Really loves participation! She assigns hw every night (even the days you dont have class) but its super easy and takes only 20 mins

Super energetic woman! Very friendly, but make sure you study a lot. Talking a lot in class too is very helpful. Only take her class if you have a very firm grasp of the French language, and don't be afraid to visit her in Office Hours. TALK A LOT (in French), SHE LOVES PARTICIPATION!
