A semester full of SML and prolog. I still know nothing. Tests are based off of SML, Java, Python, C, and Prolog. Lots of SML code writing on the tests- final has more Prolog than SML. Got less than a 10 on the first test and a 50 on the second test.

We had one group project, two midterms & final, and homework. Overall, it was decent. Databases is one of the easier things that he has taught, but he definitely makes you work for it.

Dr. Narayan is a nice guy and tries to work with students. He is pretty good at teaching the material and will try to answer questions. His tests are pretty hard so get used to reading the Java API because he'll ask logic questions on his tests.

Dr. Narayan is one of those professors that only works for a few students. He basically grades on a pass/fail scale.. I get that computer science is a pretty learn it yourself subject but even if you try to reach him out class he's pretty unhelpful. He's a great guy, love him as a person. But his class was one of those most difficult things ever...

He is a nice guy but is very repetitive on things that do not need to be repeated. He is not very good at explaining the hard material. The class is set up by up to 12 labs that are 1 point each, 4 assignments that are out of 100 points and 2 tests and a final. He never gives the correct solutions to the labs so you dont have anything to go off of.

This guy is ridiculously tough. Dont recommend for people who dont know what theyre doing, or arent good at making up the difference in skill on their own.

He expects everyone to know everything. It can be hard at times - especially when he doesn't want to choose a test format. A lot of his grading is on a Boolean basis - it either works or it doesn't - so there isn't partial credit. He's a nice teacher and can help you if you need it, but he is much better for those who know what they are doing.

I took this class with no experience with computer science since it was for beginners; however, it was taught like a higher class and moved very quickly. He is very repetitive with things that shouldn't be repeated but brushes quickly past the harder information. He also was not helpful to students that did not understand the information.

Is a nice guy and does a great job of making sure everybody understands the material, using lots of metaphors and examples. However, when it comes to actual coding and assignments, he is completely unhelpful and lacks empathy. He can't understand how someone would not know what to do. Really tough grader and offers almost no feedback. I felt lost.

Not too heavy on work. 2 tests, 1 final, 3ish hws, and one group project, which is easy bc he gives clear grading criteria and as long as you do the bullet points you get the credit so theres no subjectiveness. Test are difficult and he doesn't curve but most don't do too well so don't worry about a high C or low B bc the group project counts a lot

A hard class and an unhelpful professor. When into his office hours and he talked to me like I was a child and did nothing to clear up my confusion.

I loved his class. I took this class with Li the first time and failed it, but I got a really good grade this time. He's willing to help and his help can be a bit vague at times, but if he sees you're struggling, he'll be more helpful. Lectures are clear and he extends due dates if the class needs it. Would def take his class again.

maybe because it was a summer course but this class was pretty tough. The pace was almost too quick to keep up with and a lot of concepts felt glossed over. If you keep up with the homework and go to class you can manage, but he is a tough grader. But this balanced out with each assignmenttesthomwork avg, etc never being more than 15%

Good professor, nice guy. I'd take one of his classes again. The second half of the class is significantly harder than the first, and assignments can be more time consuming than you expect (but that's just standard computer science).

The workload for Narayan's CSC 221 class can be pretty intimidating, and the level of difficulty ramps up quickly. If you're not prepared to invest many hours banging your head against a keyboard, then Narayan's class might not be for you. But if you put in the time and the effort and pay attention to deadlines, his class is informative and fun.

Anyone who says that he is a bad professor or doesn't care about his students is a slacker who expected the class to be super simple. I had a fantastic semester with him, don't procrastinate, go to his office if you need help, by far one of the best professors I have had.

If you have taken 121 you should be prepared for this class. He is a very smart man. He WILL help you if you ask. Somethings he cant simply answer for you because you wouldn't be learning, but he leads you there well. I learned a TON! Just go to class! If you feel behind at the beginning, go to him for help. Don't fall behind!

Sridhar Narayan is the greatest man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is extremely intelligent and always helpful. If you take the time to ask him something, he is very clear and patient. I would definitely recommend taking his class; he's the department chair and really knows what he's doing
