I have heard many of the other professors say that Professor Ravi is their role model. He excels at both teaching and research. He is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet, and very humble (I believe the first S. stands for Saint, but he abbreviates it.) Tests are thorough, so study hard. And DO NOT put off assignments to the last min.

Don't look at the ratings and think that he's a terrible teacher. Far from it. This guy is the Gandalf that shoulds "You shall not pass!" as you look at your GPA plummeting with each CSI course that you take. But you WILL become a better programmer afterwards. Lectures are hard to listen to and assignments are ridiculously, but it'll work out. GL!

Ravi is a very meticulous individual who leaves little to question. His assignments are long and arduous, yet they teach you the material well, regardless of the grade you receive on them. You'll learn quickly that his grading scheme is not his strong point.

Wonderful professor! Had him for CSI 333 and 402 (currently). Every project comes with C-R-Y-S-T-A-L clear outlines, and he even gives a window of time on everything for complaints/rebuttals after it's graded. One of the best professors and class policies I've came across. Lectures are a bit boring, but eh... it's hard to make this material "fun".

Professor is not very helpful. Tried to talk to him before class and he just brushed me off and didnt seem to care. I hate that he is the only teacher for a required class for CS majors

Best CS Professor at UA. The assignments are difficult, but very well explained and outlined. The lecture slides are extremely useful he's always willing to help. The tests/final are difficult, but fair for the material he covers.

This class is not very hard, however, the teachers grading methods are VERY nit picky. I received a close to failing grade on a project simply because I didn't use a correct print statement even though the challenging material was correct.

This class is HARD! Don't miss a single class and pay attention! Projects are massive and hard! He gives step by step outlines for each assignment which helps a lot and often gives code snippets for you to use. Good professor, just really hard. Says "ok" so often you could make a drinking game out of it. Start projects ASAP! Good in office hours.

Professor Ravi is a great professor. I took 333 and 402 with him and I didn't regret it at all. 402 is programming intensive with four programming assignments that span about 2-3 weeks each. Class isn't a cakewalk, but Ravi is very good teacher and as long as you start each programming assignment a week or so before it's due, you'll do fine.

The professor is an expert in his field, always in good mood to help. His slides are deceptively simple that contain many useful examples. Exams and quizzes are reasonable, but not without some minefield, make sure you learn the slides well. The projects are never trivial ones, not something to finish in 2-3 days.

The most useful class you will take in your major, and the most demanding. Luckily Ravi knows his stuff and you will benefit from him pushing you so hard. This year he received the SUNY Distinguished Professor Awarda, a prestigious SUNY system-wide award only given to a select few for excellence in teaching, and he is completely deserving.

He's not condescending, insane, ineffectual, pompous, maladjusted, bitter or medicated like so much of the rest of the CS dept. But he's more than simply not being damaged- he's always in good spirits and concerned with the well being of his students. Just make sure you work hard- if you owe it to any UA undergrad CS professor, it's Ravi.
