Stan is an awesome guy and he's really interesting but he's not very self-aware. We would consistently spend the first hour of our three-hour, twice-a-week class talking about random nothings. His classes are fun, but bad for your GPA. a "good grade" to Stan is a B+. A "bad grade" is a B. Good luck escaping a B or B+ in his class.

Stan can be a great teacher if you are willing to work hard and listen to what he says. You might also have to track him down but it is definitely worth it. He is brimming with knowledge so if you have a problem he can probably help. Take classes with him if you want to learn to make good pieces that are both artistically and structurally sound.

Stan's amazing, you just have to be open-minded to his teaching methods. he won't tell you what to do, he expects you to be self-motivated and to find your own inspiration. he's obviously passionate about what he does, and if you show him you're passionate too, he'll take interest in what you're doing.

LOVED this class. Stan is a fountain of information - both technical, formal and conceptual. Ask him a question on anything pertaining to the work and be awed by the wealth of information you will receive. He loves the materials he works with and his example as a practicing artist is compelling. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.

Stan is never around and when he is he is either totaly zoned out or talking endlessly about theoretical BS. He gives almost no direction and the projects we did were stupid. I would not recommend taking a class with him!

Loved working with and learning from Stan on projects, greatly enjoyed 'challenges' of definiting our own ways as students. Didn't like lack of focus when it came to teaching (thought he 'tought from the hip') - great artist, passionate and committed to art, not as committed to education. Definitely 'you got what you put in' sorta guy.

Passionate about art - so passionate that he lectures about it for hours (and the students don't know how he got from Point A to Point B). Interesting project ideas. He has very specific ideas about what he wants to see in students' projects, but is vague when students ask for help.

Stan is the man. He may ditch class more than I did, but when he's there he's interesting to talk to, and will help you out. His lectures are few and far between, but helpful. Good class to take if you have some interest and experience in art.
