Comment:

Love the way Dr. Pedersen structures his class. Collaborative work in-class and proof writing outside of class. Non-euclidean geometry to intimidating, but he helped out anytime I had a question. Always take classes with Steen!

Comment:

I cannot say enough good about Steen. He is so knowledgeable and approachable. Class style is working in groups on problems he assigns each day with summaries of readings due daily. He wants you to understand and enjoy what you're learning. I always leave his class in a better mood than when I arrived. Fair grader and sets clear expectations.

The lecture class was really good. He spent the majority of class giving notes on the board. He would occassionally give group problems at the end of class so if you skip you would get a 0. Don't skip lab, if you don't go you get a 0 on the problems and those add up. Never used the textbook but all the homework was on webassign so you need access

I have taken Steen for two classes, first I took him for trigonometry and then calculus. I really liked him a lot, he is helpful and really teaches the material. He typically gives 3-5 examples for each type of problem. I had a problem where he graded a question on my test incorrectly, after explaining the issue Steen happily fixed the problem.

Comment:

He uses Webassign, and there is an online homework due before every lecture. (The homework is a big part of your grade, which is why I didn't do too great.) Recitation usually gets out about an hour early. He's a really good professor if you're an auditory learner (does a lot of examples during lecture, step-by-step). Overall, great professor.

He was a good professor, he spent time explaining in detail what problems people were having and lectured exactly what he expected on the exam. I could have had an A in his class is it wasn't for the common final. However I was still above the Standard deviation.

I love Steen. He is a very good prof. Sometimes hard to follow but he does explain material very well. Helpful in person too. I recommend him. Very funny, Crazy and makes you want to go to class just to see what he does. I recommend him highly.

Steen is a decent professor. He can go a bit quickly and can be a bit unclear at times, but ultimately, he covers enough of the material for you to understand if you are willing to spend some extra time on it. Nice guys, laughs a lot and can be very laid back.

Second time ive had steen, LOVE HIM!teaches you what you need to know. The homework is the hardest part b/c he doesnt teach for the homework...instead he's better and teaches for the Tests, so i like it that way. basically get a cramster acct, study the notes and practice test and your good!

If you have to take 257, take it with Steen! He's a hilarious professor that can actually teach. Cheat sheets were allowed for exams, which weren't too difficult. This course is difficult, but Steen makes it easier and understands how confusing it can be at times. Homework is not required, but it helps you understand the material a lot better.

Not always 100% clear, but pretty good compared to most WSU math profs. Test were fair, no surpises. I A'ced them no problem, but studied crazy. Gave us an open book/open note/group "quiz" at the end of every class. The answer to which was usually in an example problem from the book, or in the solutions manual. Always let us out of class early.

I would stay away! He does not explain himself well in class and has a tendency to just write on the board. Not open to questions at all and never bothers to go over or answer anyone's questions over homework. I love math but he made me question that at points.
